If you are not playing on tactical or honour mode difficulty, you can lower it in the options (if you are not already in story difficulty).
The ship is pretty darn straight forward too, go upstairs, talk to people, red flag on the map tells you where you go, you go there, stuff happens, "nowhere else to go but up", explore, "nowhere else to go but up", fight, save people or ditch them, done.
I'd understand you having troubles in Fort Joy... but getting lost on a ship that has 4 floors?
The ship is specifically designed to be finished with great ease. The hardest thing you fight on the ship are the two magisters in the room next to the dog, before that, maybe the prisoner on the lowest deck due to AOE damage and fire.
Several keys, some optional cheese based on racial things or origin. Pretty sure you can 'do' Fane somewhere on the side to boot. The whole ship is meant to be done within 30minutes and shouldn't pose an issue.
But some people are bad at some things and not at other things so hopefully that is the case with him. (Also it amazing that people still posting here, when he likely long gone, which also proves he not a troll as they can't help but post/reply non-stop)
