Kill Zaleskar, yes or no?
I don't want to miss out on sweet xp, but I do not want to kill an NPC which might appear later in the game either.

Does Zaleskar (worth 2900 xp) show up later?

Also, does Slane (worth 6000 xp)?

Depending on your party composition, Zaleskar, as a lone wolf with a contract on him for Godwoken, is a legitimate adversary, who will attack you if you talk to him with that person. (If you have no further trading use for him, then by all means attack him for some loot, which is just about more valuable than the XP in the long run, because 2900 XP is nothing compared to the endgame XP you can earn.) Slane has a quest, which is beneficial if you want to conserve your purge wand for later use.

Slane doesn't. It's a choice between completing his quest or killing him for the xp and the strongest 1 handed weapon so far.

If they were some important quest givers, I would recommend to let them live, but since EXP is all you care about and they are just "one Act guys", my advise is: go get them, tiger!

kill slane honestly, if you can convince the priestess at the sanctuary you can recharge you purging wand. the dragon is better dead for XP so you can waltz the next act with 1 extra lvl

I killed Slane in my 2nd/current game for 2 reasons: the achievement, and to see how hard it would be; less so for the xp and loot. It was not hard @ 8th level (he's 9th). I still felt awful about it, and won't do it in future games. Guess I'm a softie.

I felt sad too. Got the achievement though. Plus XP and some decent loot, better than his rewards

xp's interest is to reach level 9 before the end of the act and to be able to obtain, with the magic well, belts and rings much more powerful than at level 8

I kill Slane if I am using a dual wielder. The sword is so good in act 1, then I also give it to the vendor on Lady Vengeance later to get it upgraded for the start of Act 4. If I recall, it was great for level 18.

You can upgrade weapons by selling them vendors? How does that work?

Wow, who knew. I just assumed we were talking about a mod.

You can do both. Give him the wand, and before dialogue ends, cause a damaging surface to hit him when he shifts into humanoid form to initiate combat.

Or break a feathfog barrel from the boat on him mid dialogue.

Where? Haven't found Deathfog in Fort Joy.

You would have had to grab it from the boat at the very beginning.
