Sourcerous Sundries is confusing...
I have 6 azure flint. I want to upgrade my level 6 fire staff to a level 8 version, but I have no idea how. This is all the manual says:

"Simply choose the right sourcerous sundry and combine the two. Your items will scale to your level."

That is infuriatingly vague. Combining my weapon with an azure flint in the crafting menu accomplishes nothing. Even using multiple azure flint for higher rarity items does nothing. 1, 2, 3, 4 azure flint, doesn't matter.

Apparently using the search function in the forums is also confusing.

Snideness aside... You combine them as follows.

Item + Flint + Flint + Flint + Flint.

Different rarities require different amounts. For example a blue item is Item + Flint.

I tried that. It just tells me it's an invalid combination.

Then you are doing it wrong. Too much flint, or too little. It works perfectly fine for me for all items.

If you are putting the item and 2 flint you are doing it incorrectly. They need to be individuals not as a stack.

If it a blue staff. Item + flint.

Yellow - Item + flint + flint

If this still doesn't work. Put a screen shot of your process in the next post. I dont know what you are doing to fail it, so showing me the "failed" attempt will allow me to correct it.

Also as usual, any mods may cause conflict and may break other mods.

I have a level 15 legendary "pink" i think colored dagger, so how many do I need for that.

So figured it out. It only works on equipment below your current level. The number of materials needed depends on the tier. So for instance if you have a level 13 epic (purple) helmet and you are level 16 you can use two diamond dusts (helmet + DD + DD) and it will scale your helmet to level 16.

I... I just. I just explained how to do it. Twice. Let us try one more time.

If you put 1 item. Of any rarity. So its ITEM --- FLINT and it does not work. What do you do next?

You add another Flint. ITEM ---- FLINT -----FLINT. That does not work. So what do you do next?

You add yet another flint. ITEM ---- FLINT ----- FLINT ---- FLINT. Now for some odd reason.. that doesn't work. So, what do you do?

You guessed it. Add yet another flint. ITEM --- FLINT ---- FLINT --- FLINT.

One of these combinations will work provided the item isn't above your level.

Each RARITY -- Green --- Blue --- Purple --- Pink--- Yellow --- UNIQUE will require a different amount of flints / dust / quicksilver to upgrade. Some may require the same.. blue and green may only need 1 for example.

Use the same process for the armor items and jewelery items. They do not use flint but their respective materials. Shields are not weapons, they are armor.

So to recap.

1) Different rarities WILL USE DIFFERING AMOUNTS OF MATERIALS. Uniques will always use the max amount, while a blue may only need 1.

2) Not all items require "flints"

3) Items MUST BE BELOW YOUR LEVEL.

4) FOLLOW THE SIMPLE TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS OF TRYING 1 MATERIAL IN EACH SLOT THE REMOVING ONE BY ONE. It will work eventually.

5) IF YOU ARE RUNNING NON LARIAN MODS IT MAY BREAK OR CONFLICT. This point shouldn't have to be spelt out but, non gift bag mods may conflict with the upgrading of items. Most shouldn't but, it is a possibility.

This should put to bed every single question about upgrading items. If you cant be bothered to follow the steps, to try different combos, then there is nothing else I will be able to do for you.

I'm copying this from another page...

You will need a certain amount of each depending on the piece of gear’s rarity level:
Normal (white) - 1 item
Uncommon (green) - 1 item
Rare (blue) - 2 items
Epic (purple) - 2 items
Legendary (pink) - 3 items
Divine (orange) - 3 items
Unique (gold) - 4 items

Their locations are as follows:
Deidra - Fort Joy X: 453, Y: 28 (moves to X: 576, Y: 244 when the Seekers attack Bishop Alexander)
Demira - Reaper’s Coast X: 373, Y: 110
Dagmare - Lady Vengeance at Nameless Isle X: 3, Y: 62
Donna - Arx Pilgrim Encampment X: 366, Y: 57

Sort of related, more a peculiar case. I crafted a unique item courtesy of the Crafter's Kit mod as part of the Gift Bag. The item was called 'Halloween Phoenix Wings', listed under Objects in the Recipes menu on the Crafting panel. This becomes an amulet called Phoenix Talon. It's pretty sweet, granting permanent Flight to the wearer. However, when I tried to upgrade it using Quicksilver (since it's an amulet) it says Invalid Combination. I tried using Azure Flint and Diamond Dust too, same result. Bummer bc the item is Level 1. I'm keeping it due to the Flight perk, and am wondering if it doesn't work because it's a modded item? Not sure anyone would know the answer, throwing it out there...

Because it is unique, it should require four of the relevant sundries item. You need to manually separate the items and craft the amulet and four items, filling all five crafting boxes. That should work. If the sundries item is in a stack, it only counts as one of the four needed.

Yup, I know all about separating and how many sundry items to use. Doesn't work. Tried all the other sundry types too just in case. I assume it's because it's from the modded Gift Bag, might not be entirely stable doing Gift Bag mods to other Gift Bag mods.
