"Grenade damage / heal will scale with your current level."
The most basic firestorm have decent damage, but a simple fireball is better. You might not always have a frost skill available, or just water balloon+ice grenade/storm grenade. It's cooldownless skills that doesn't use memory, in a way. It eats a whole lot of inventory weight However.
And as Imyo stated. I too tried to make a mage/rogue consumables build. And it did not work.
Consumables are an afterthought. "Damn I won't have enough AP this turn to create a water surface then freeze/shock it. BUT I can use this water balloon and freeze/shock it!"
I ended up making a Jack of All Trades; Utility of all type mage. Who used lots of consumables to make up for his weaknesses.
