What is "Definitive Edition"?
I've considered buying this game now that it's on sale. I tend to avoid games with "Edition" tacked onto the end of the name, and this is one of the reasons why I avoid them.

What is "Definitive Edition"?

Is that just the base game? If so, why does it have a name that suggests that it would include other things?

If it is not just the base game then, well, nothing on the store page lists what is included. The store page lists:

- Base game: "Divinity: Original Sin 2"
- Divine Edition
- Eternal Edition
- Source Saga

Scrolling down and clicking the "More" button reveals information on "Divine" and "Eternal" editions. Still nothing about the so-called "Definitive Edition".

So I'm at a bit of a loss here. My ASSUMPTION is that it's just the base game renamed but I am not going to spend money only to find that my assumption was incorrect.

Dear devs: Please update your store page to be crystal clear about this situation. I know that you're not a scummy dev studio so I don't think that you're doing this on purpose, but it's quite frustrating to be the customer and to encounter this. I haven't been following your game so I am someone completely outside of the know of what's been going on with your game.

Thanks all for your time.
Well...

Divinity Original Sin 2 was the game released about 3 years ago in 2017 we call this "Classic"

Definitive Edition is an updated version where it received balance changes and fixed many things/resources.

When you buy Definitive you get both Classic and Definitive.

You can delete classic as it takes a lot of space and use definitive which is optimized and takes less space.

Divine Edition just adds some extra illustration and stuff. I don't know if it's the same as the Divine Ascension DLC or if it's something different. I honestly don't care for this stuff so someone that might have both could tell you about it.

Eternal Edition gives you most Divinity games except Dragon Commander but it adds the useless Divine Ascension DLC, so unless you care for that it's a waste of money IMO.

Source Saga is just DOS1 Enhanced and DOS2 Definitive

You get the Sir Lora dlc automatically if you buy the Definitive Edition iirc. The game was gifted to me so I don't know if there was a bundle with the Lora DLC or it's included.

Every DOS2 Edition you buy should have Definitive Edition as it makes no sense to add just the older version of the game.

Pretty sure Steam makes the marketing pages and stuff on Steam, not Larian. The page only sells the DE edition, the classic edition isn't sold anymore as a seperate item, it's included in the DE edition if you really want to play the old classic edition for some reason. There are extras, no DLCS. The extra pet i think was an item that was a kickstarter reward maybe. It's included in the DE edition.
