I really wish this game was a Diablo-esque hack n slash
The story is great, but the gameplay is what really brings me in. Love that tactical turn based fight. I could do mehphisto runs for days farming gear like this. I LOVE the terrain modifiers and general freedom when making classes. I love getting height advantages. I love all the spells that synergize with each other. It feels like Final Fantasy Tactics, Plays like Xcom, and shares none of the downsides of either. Except it ends and its game over. No new game plus. No nothing. delete and try again. That is perfectly fair gameplay, but I would prefer if I could still build this character. No level limit, just keep grinding new more difficult encounters.

You've described most roguelikes really. Diablo was itself a real time adaptation of earlier turned based games like Angband, Moria, and Rogue itself. Roguelikes aren't exactly the same, but they are generally turn based, have tactical fights, but generally don't look nearly as good as D:OS2. Now, bear in mind, I'm not talking about the raft of games that goes by the title "roguelite" or really even most modern "rogue-likes".

was confused at first, but you just mean continue.. Probably a mod or 2 can get you close enough to that or if you just want to do that then GM mode.

You could try mods. Theres this huge overhaul mod that changes and adds so many new mechanics, it's called Epic Encounters II, currently in development. It isn't on the workshop yet but it is playable if you join the discord server.

The developers for the mod plans to make a custom campaign for the mod down the line, that is what you described. Infinite progression and randomized encounters.
