I remember there to be a Dig Site at the Void Salamander Encounter where you got Second Skin and the Ring of Intelligence. Whatever I do (Boost Wit, shoveling randomly) I find nothing?

Yes their is, I had straight wit at level 5 and it came up

I'm not sure you can shovel randomly to find stuff

Have a character with decent wits. Maybe find food and use Peace of Mind to boost Wits? There are 2 spots you can dig by Salamanders, one drops loot, the other drops a chest I believe.

I managed to solve it. A salamander died on the spot. I had to teleport it away, go away, save and reload and then was able to detect it with wits.

Seems the salamander dying on the spot outright blocks it, even if you dig without detection.
