Piercing vs physical damage, what is difference...
I assume that piercing damage reduces targets health regardless of armor, ie damage is applied directly towards health, is that right? Thanks

That is exactly correct, piercing just hits HP, it's neither blocked by physical nor magical armor (although secondary effects of piercing skills are likely blocked by physical armor)

different weapons do different types of damage, so certain abilities reduce damage from certain sources

which is weird considering some abilities pierce physical like ruptured tendons..
You get 3 different types of "hit points" -
- Vitality ( your life) - basically regular Hit Points
- Physical Armour ( PA) - get drained by Physical Damage
- Magic Armor ( MA) - get drained by Magic Damage.

So, MA and PA protect your Life from their respective types of Damage.

Piercing Damage goes straight to Vitality, and gets past MA and PA. The game displays this damage with bright red numbers.

I was interested in doing Piercing builds for Assassin kills.

You need Huntsman for Marksman's fang, and Scoundrel for Sawtooth Knife. Spec into Finesse for both. Take some Polymorph for Skin Graft to reset the cooldowns.

You can also get Pierce damage combining Necro's Decay or Scoundrel's Corrupted Blade with Restoration(heal) from Hydro. Also Bull Rush from the Horns in Poly does Pierce.

Ifan's Wolf pet does Pierce, so does the Condor Pet. If you get Ifan's special Crossbow, it has a big Pierce bonus too.

The endgame club also has innate piercing damage, in fact it's only piercing.

Really? What club is that?
