Party management - how to exactly understand it?
So, I am playing co-op with my partner and I am a bit confused about party management screen. It shows that we are kind of in two separate groups. Me and AI controlled Fane are one, and she and AI controlled Red Prince is in other.

What does that exactly means for us? Can I even move us to be one group, would that work or be better/worse?

Two things that I noticed so far is that she can't talk to Fane, and I can't talk to Red Prince and it also seems that our respective companions quests are not updating. She doesn't have the quest for Fane at all, and I do have the quest for Red Prince, but we just met Bahara and my quest still says to go find her.

I tried moving both her and Red Prince to be in the same group with me and Fane on party management screen, but that made a warning pop-up and I kind of didn't understand what it was trying to tell me... That the Red Prince quest is now paused until I move both of them to how their were, I think?

Could somebody explain how exactly all this works, please, and what is the best thing to do here.

Companions only talk to the player who recruited them.
And the part about "not being in the same party" Can you see each other on the left side of the screen? That means you are infact in the same party, you might be confusing the "links" between the characters as being part of a party but that just means the characters are linked > Move one, the other follows.
Swapping characters around in the party management screen only affects WHO controls the characters assigned to them.

This. Beyond that, just ignore anything confusing. You probably have Red's quest because you had control over him at some point. You should only ever control or recruit the one companion you want with you, same for your partner. Don't recruit both and give them control through party management. The player who recruited is the only one that can interact with the companion so you always want the same one.
