They're not exactly turn-based strategies, but turn-based tactics, and some of the best in that kind.
Both of these games are RPGs to the bone.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that all RPGs should have the option to beat them without combat.
That said there are plenty of situations when you can either choose whom to fight or avoid the conflict completely, obtaining a comparable amount of XP.
The dialogue system is VERY rich, with some choices being just there for the character and the humor, and others influencing the outcome in vastly different ways.
So you roleplay your character through actions and dialogues, as well as building your own 'class', which is half the fun. Combat here is just too good to avoid it anyway.
Oh you want more? Yes it certainly is. While it's not a sandbox RPG where you can totally do your own thing you can play the game depending on what role you've picked for yourself. You can be heroic or cruel. You can help some and betray others. Which ones depend a lot on the role you play. The game is incredibly flexible in it's quests about the deaths of NPCs, that in itself seems like a characteristic of a true RPG. But honestly strict genre definitions are silly and kinda useless.
It is not an action game like many so called rpgs are these days. DOS2 also reminds me more of table top and D+D games than most other rpgs.
One game doing some things better than divinity doesn't mean divinity doesn't have those elements.If you're talking about choices,divinity has them, just because Tyranny does it better it doesn't mean divinity doesnt have that element.
Yeah and when you replied to the other person with ''Play Tyranny" you made it seem like tyranny has more rpg elements than divinity when it doesn't, it only does some things better.
Comparing diablo with divinity is not even close to comparing tyranny with divinity but whatever I'm not gonna argue about this stuff.
