Respec'ing in Act 1

I have read conflicting information regarding respec'ing in Act 1. It sounds as though some people say you need a mod, and others say it is now a built in feature of the game. This is my first playthrough and I made a few pretty big mistakes and have put a lot of hours into this character. I'd rather just respec, but do not want to grind to act 2 to be able to dot his. Can i respec in Fort Joy in Act 1 right now? If so, where about is that located? Thanks!

Nope, only after you finish the 1 chapter.

You will be able to do it right in between first and second chapters for the first time. Later on you'll be able to respec any time you want

Is there a mod I can use to respec in act 1? I think I read somewhere this was an option, and I really don't want to grind a very poor character to act 2 to be able to respec. I just wasn't sure if there was such a mod if it was up to date and where to find it.

Yeah, there's a mod you can activate in one of the "gift bags". Larian curated a selection of player-made mods and ship them with the game now. One of them is a Fort Joy respec mirror, located in the arena area.

FYI activating any of the gift bag mods will disable achievements on that save, if you care.
