This game kills off ALOT of really great characters in the start but keeps that unrelatable and shallow ones around. It's really disheartening. I get the whole "end of the world and you are the only one who can save it" trope, but man they kill off characters that could be amazing backup and supporting characters.
I'd have loved to learn more about Samadel, why she's one of the few lizards that is kind and warm, where she grew up, why she personally joined the Seekers. This goes for a few of the other Seeker characters too. Really disheartened the Devs introduced some really strong characters with enriching personalities at the start only to then just off them. :/
Should this happen, they can survive the fight and be seen on the ship afterwards. I forget if there was any final dialogue with them or not, I vaguely remember being surprised I could talk to... whoever that human girl was that takes off your collar once you save Gareth, since its weird that there would be dialogue for a character that's very unlikely to survive. However, it could be remnants of dialogue that was put in for future interaction with these characters that got cut due to time restrictions. Killing them all in a pile kinda seems like a quick wrap up done to save time developing those characters further if there was a release deadline that cut them out. Only Larian would know for sure though.
Still, technically she could be the one to survive. I've only had two characters ever make it through that though. I replayed it a ton trying to kill off every minion as well as taking down Dallis or her companion. Not so much for the achievement as simply getting the most out of that encounter as a sort of personal challenge. Its not common though.
That is look like even if some survive, none are seen on the boat after that, likely suppose to be death.
