Aggressive Takeover: Garvan won't take the tainted stew
The tavern cook is dead but I have plenty of stew in my inventory as well as a tainted stew. I offer him a house stew, which he finds disappointing. Then i offer him another which he likes. Then he's full and I never get the option to give him the tainted stew. I know there are other ways of killing him but I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong?!

Just poisoned stew or properly tainted with a void fish?

It's properly tainted stew. I got the recipe from the lady in the outhouse a long time ago, and have been carrying it around not knowing it was part of a quest till now.

Hmm, he should give you the option even if you didn't speak to the dwarf spirit by Grog's bridge. If that doesn't trigger it, reload to an earlier save?

Finally figured it out. I had made the tainted stew long before I got the quest and had been carrying it around not knowing what to do with it. Apparently the quest doesn't recognize the tainted stew if you've made it before getting the quest. I found another stew in the kitchen, tainted it and then I got the option to offer it to him.
Makes sense. I wouldn't eat fish stew that someone had been carrying around in their backpack for weeks either! Guess I've been playing too much Kingdom Come. That game tells you when your food is past the expiry date!

That’s definitely a game you can get immersed in... until you step up to an alchemy table and literally ascend into heaven...

Actually, all you have to do is drop your old stew and pick it up again. Then you are given the option to give it to him.
