Beast Regicide Achievement - Assassinate the Queen
So I've been trying for an hour or so to get this damned achievement to pop some way or another, yet even after trying to kill the Dwarf Queen like 10 times, the game just won't give it to me.

According to a guide you need to go through some dialogue when you confront her after killing Isbeil but in my game when she comes out of her room all mad and strikes a convo with Beast, there isn't a single dialogue option, just 'Continue' until she kisses Beast, gives a quest reward, and then runs away. That gave me the Royalty achievement to ally with the Queen but I can't find a way to get the other one.

I've tried using my other chars to attack Justinia while she's talking to Beast and then kill her in the fight but that doesn't pop the achievement even though she's definitely dead.

How do you get those dialogue options to naturally start a fight with her if that's how it's supposed to go?

If I'm gonna have to start this whole quest over I'd rather know what to do exactly, these sewers are such a pain to navigate, but I haven't been able to find what I did wrong after extensive Googling.

Or if someone has a save for that achievement I'll gladly take it, I don't like to cheat but I did what the achievement says and it just won't pop.

I think if you look at the global achievements, and see how almost nobody got Regicide, you'll conclude like me it's either broken or stupid-hard to get. I just posted in an older thread about achievements the other day how I couldn't get this, and it definitely bummed me out as this is my last playthrough.

I mean Regicide is still at 1.5%, I know a lot of achievements used to be broken but this is the Definitive Edition, I thought they fixed most of them, I haven't encountered any other achievement not popping so far so I'm really surprised considering this is a pretty straightforward one, any other achievement that required to kill someone would award it regardless or how you did a quest. This is a massive disappointment, I won't be playing with Beast on my next playthrough so I can't continue the game before nailing this one down, and having to start the same quest over and over again without knowing if it'll work or not isn't even remotely fun.

Well I actually found out the solution on my own; to make a choice you have to approach Queen Justinia with another character than Beast, if you approach her just with Beast he'll make a decision on his own and you won't get to pick any dialogue option. I approached her controlling Ifan and even though Beast was right behind, it gave me the option to choose this time. So just don't confront her controlling Beast if you're having the same issue, I got the achievement right away when entering combat, didn't even have to kill her, so it's important that people know the achievement is awarded for deciding to kill her, and not actually slaying the Queen as killing her out of dialogue context won't work.

I'm happy that you found a way to trigger it, but your scenario did not work for me. My main PC is Lohse, and Beast is a companion (and literally behind her). I believe it was the usual 2 choices presented: let your companion step up into dialogue or shut them down [but I could be mis-remembering that part]. I was definitely presented w/ 2 recommendations for Beast, and to try and get the achievement, I chose killing her. Which we did, w/ Beast delivering the killing blow as I said.

I don't at this point have an earlier save to go back to just to trigger the achievement. Or try and trigger it. Anyway, again, I'm glad you at least nailed it.

That's odd. Like I said the achievement triggered when you enter combat after picking the hostile dialogue option, if it doesn't pop when entering combat it probably won't pop when you actually kill her. I can always send you my save at this moment if you really want the chievo.

That's kind of you, though I'm showing my technical ignorance in saying, I wouldn't know what to do w/ it. Also, I'm playing the Mac version, so don't ask me where my saved games are. No doubt a hidden folder somewhere.

I know this post is old but the issue here is that you have to have the relevant character as your main. You can't get beast achievements if your main character is not beast. hope that helps.

And to further help you achievement hunters out there that find this, you can launch multiple instances of the game and join yourself to make multiple main characters. Do this and you can do multiple character achievements like this in one run.
