Planting herbs in buckets
With the Bag DLC thing where you can plant herbs into buckets and let them grow (wildly quickly), I'm curious what the practical purpose is for this?

To get a seedling, you combine 1 of the herb you want with a bucket. You let it grow and 20 seconds later you have ... still just 1 of the herb. It just seems like a waste of time unless the plant regrows ...?

EDIT: And it only seems to grow if I move the bucket once it's on the ground.

EDIT: And I can't use all buckets, only the buckets that can be worn on your head? What? Why?

Item IDs are the reason for specific buckets only. The harvest should be randomized between how many herbs you get and possible seeds as well. Overall its not much more than a cheat mod to get free herbs.

As Chaoslink said, you can get more than 1 herb back after planting, allowing you to multiply your herbs infinitely. Using more buckets speeds up the process.

It's actually fairly game-breaking. Some of the herbs you can plant are fairly valuable or intended to be rare. You can craft an infinite amount of strong potions, or sell/barter them giving you effectively infinite gold.

Yeah, I prefer just overabusing thievery in act one and two and never really thinking about gold. If done right, you’ll be able to get enough in act one to hold you until you can fully capitalize on stealing in act two. I done right, you’ll leave act two with so much gold you’ll never need to sell or barter again. Just dump cash for everything and buy anything remotely useful.

As everyone else has said, it's just a time burner to make some potions or sell some valuable plants for gold. If you don't like it, don't do it.. but it's nice and fair when combined with Sourceress Sundries. I often plant Drudanae as needed to upgrade my gear with the sisters items. You actually have to spend hours farming to completely upgrade all your gear so it's fair enough for a min/max playthrough.

Alright, thanks for the information. After doing it a couple more times, I managed to get 2 herbs once. I can see the value in multiplying rare herbs, rather than what I'm doing where I'm needlessly planting those whisperwood herbs you find right outside Fort Joy.

Whisperwood, Chantelle, Death Trumpets, Amadouvier are all good for making potions.

Whisperwood makes Magic Armor, Death Trumpets make Resist All Element, Chantelle makes Invisibility, and Amadouvier makes Physical Armor.

If you combine 2 of the same size potion you will make larger ones. 75% resist all is super strong.
