Does the party size expanded mod make the game too easy?
It's my first playthrough, I like all the characters so I got party size expanded and decided on Ifan, Red Prince, Sebille, and Fane. (1 more than the normal amount) will this break the game and make it too easy? should I go without the mod for this playthrough or is there a mod that ups the difficulty slightly so the more party members doesn't break the game?

The game can already be too easy with the usual four characters if you build the characters right

Having an extra one is just overkill

Also taking more than what the game usually lets you takes away the weight of some of the story developments

Eh, if you're new, and you're looking for more of the story element than the difficulty element it'll be fine. I'm guessing you might've started on classic. With the extra party member helping, you should be able to handle Tactician even your first time around. Classic can become a bit easy with a 4 man party so having that extra character is probably going to make it worse. But it all depends on the builds you take too. If you're somewhat inefficient in your builds, and new players often are as Divinity kinda makes its own rules, you might be fine. Too many variables to say for sure.

Since keeping gear up to date is already an expensive thing, you might want to consider having at least two thievery characters to snatch the money and gear you'll need. Always steal gear first, money second. Its more efficient to steal everything else and top off on cash than it is going straight to stealing gold, unless there is nothing you want or need.

The game is balanced around a 4 man party, so having an extra person ought to make things easier. That said, people do have trouble even on the easier difficulty settings because a lot of the difficulty is determined by your builds and strategy.

(Aside: Am I the only person who never steals anything? I've finished the game twice, once on honor mode, and I think the only thing I've ever stolen was a hat in Fort Joy to get the achievement...).

Eh, I look at that like I look at soloing. The game gives you the option to use stealing, just like it gives you companions. There's no reason not to besides personal challenge, but I don't really see the lack of these things as challenging, but rather, tedium. The game feels tedious without stealing just as it does playing solo.

I'm addicted to stealing; in Tactician the prices of Divine items becomes really expensive; went on a thievery spree in Arx and stole half a million gold. It's my first tac playthrough so I'll do anything to get an edge.

Love pickpocketing; I'm so glad they added it; it takes some skill to steal from certain NPCs and to be aware of sneak cones. It's a skill in itself TBH.

OP, rather than starting with an extra character, I'd recommend playing four characters in Story Mode, the easiest difficulty. Working out a good build and gearing 5 chars will become very challenging, and might be a bit of a headache.
