Unbalanced! Origins vs Custom characters.
Hello everybody.
I don't know if it is just me but i feel like that's the biggest problem with the game.
Origins characters have unique quests and dialogues while custom characters don't and that's Ok no problem about it you just loose some extra XP but that's ok. Now let's talk about Origins source abilities vs custom characters source abilities i mean source ability (Dome Of Protection)

Origins characters have unique source abilities while Custom characters have Dome Of Protection. Some of the Origins source abilities are Overpowered,some Underpowered and some of them are just Useless. For example let's talk about our boy Fane. He has everything! He's the most powerful being in the damn game! (All jokes aside) He's really OP and that's not a secret at this point. He has probably the best source ability in the game (TIME WARP) and even if we take that away from him, he would be still the best. His utility is way too good. Ifan has the wolf......Ohh god the wolf. Ifan's source ability is probably the most useless ability in the whole game. It cost a lot to summon it. and a normal level 10 summon incarnate is way better.

Custom character should have time warp or an option to should between dome of protection,time warp and another ability. That would make them more attractive.
Give Fane and Ifan another ability and balance the other origins characters abilities.

Don't get me wrong i love the game and i think it's a masterpiece but in my opinion Larian should focus on that. Let me know what you think about it.

I agree that Soul Wolf is too weak. It should probably only cost 1AP, similar to Dome, and it should either have more HP or do more damage.

Also, Dome is a fantastic ability. Time Warp might be a touch better but it's at least the second best of the character abilities.

I agree with Dome Of Protection being great but they should give custom characters the option to choose between these abilities that would make the game even better.
More customization options are never a bad thing specially on CUSTOM characters.

Eh, customs are just fine. The XP loss is minimal and Dome is pretty useful in a pinch.

Ohh god the wolf. Ifan's source ability is probably the most useless ability in the whole game. It cost a lot to summon it. and a normal level 10 summon incarnate is way better.

Actually no. It's pretty bad, sure. But I think it's better than most origin's source abilities.

Comparing it to an Incarnate makes little sense. If you invest into summoning, Incarnate is the best. No other summon compares to a buffed incarnate, and that's perfectly reasonable considering there's 4 infusions to support it, bonus for reaching 10 summoning, source-costing infusions...

But it's (potentially) a free combat unit. You can bypass AP/SP costs by using it before a fight(summons last pretty long). It doesn't cost any memory, or any skill investment.

Non-summoner characters usually don't have a summon at all. Ifan brings one with himself...

Well, it's true that there are summons available from quests, and other skill branches, but if you don't invest into summoning, their damage is lackluster. So what you're most interested in is utility/status effects. The most useful one is probably a black cat at the start of the game, which essentially saves AP with it's "Swap Places" ability, but Ifan's Wolf isn't bad either - it has a taunt skill.

Bone widow is far better as a non summon skill; can be used to block doorways and has a s*** ton of HP; hits pretty hard to. And doesn't cost source.

I never said they are bad. What i'm saying is that they should give us more source abilities options for them. That would be even better. Fane needs a nerf (He's already the most usefull character without Time Warp with it he's beyond broken.)

Nope; mid-game Fane struggles due to lack of healing potions that have to be solely crafted by the player. No game is ever going to be perfectly balanced; there are some skills that are almost needed on every player, like adrenaline and others that are close to useless.

IMO one of the game's assets is it's balancing across Skills, items, source and combat abilities.

Eh, sounds to me like a jobs for mods. Not the base game.
