Game crashes every time I try loading a save
Every time I try to load a save, the game crashes right at the end of the loading screen. I've tried resetting, running the game and steam as administrator, just about everything I could find online. But the game still won't work. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Do they even respond to those anymore? The game's gotten quiet.
My saves died too after update.

Try contacting larian support and send them your save files. I've tried starting again with the same mods i have in my previous saves and loading - no probs, so it seems to be a conflict between saves from the old version to the new one as none of mine(even without mods and clean saves) won't load if they are from older versions of the game.
Thanks for the great info. So it's seems like the only way to get back for own story is to contact Larian support and send them save files. Does it work like this?

When I've contacted them they have managed to run my save with no mods just fine, but it's not happening for me as it keeps crashing. At least they may tell you where the problem is and may fix it through their systems. I know its not ideal and there could be a mistake in patch itself, but that's the only thing left, unless a new patch fixes the issue
I have the same problem but i can start a new game and load an old save game from version 3.6.29.3822 (actual game version is 3.6.35.8270) in act 1. If i try to load a another savegame of this version in act 1 the game crashes at the end of the loading bar too. Besides any other attempts to load save games failed so far.
I should mention that i can load this one save game with several mods activated and this save game was created with some mods.
Yeah I tried contacting support, they got back to me, claimed my save was fine, and then listed all the obvious things I could try (reinstalling, new profile, etc.)

They are absolutely useless right now.
Hey guys, i got a possible solution from Larian, trying it myself atm. Basically you have to download the older version of the game by using this guide - https://imgur.com/gallery/gBLJO
P.s tried it myself - saves work just fine and no crashes
That doesn't really work, the "oldest" version of this game it'll let me download is 3 days old, the one that bricked me
Also steps 3-5 are extremely unclear. Do you have examples of the Divinity version of this, not just the generic images? I've tried this, it's not working, there's no earlier divinity available.

Worked like a charm for me

First thing you need to add console to your steam.exe in properties so it looks something like this D:\Steam\Steam.exe -console

It's trickier to find the right version, as it took me about 10 minutes to sort out. In order to get the previous version you have to click on divinity content. To save you time just copy and paste the following into your steam console

download_depot 435150 435151 8941474604903452952 [<delta manifestid>] [<depot flags filter>] : download a single depot

The download itself is about 50+gb and there will be no indicator of downloading rather then initial massage, but the console will let you know when it finishes and where the files are. Just make sure you dont close steam or restart it in a meantime. after the download is done you just replace original files of the game with the ones you have downloaded. The game should work after that (works for me at least with all my mods). If you prefer playing game in any other language rather then English - you can get it on the same website
Steamdb worked also for me. You have to go to Depots and choose "Divinity: Original Sin 2 Content" with 55GB. Then choose the tab with "Manifests" on the left side. There i took the Manifest ID from December 7th. In the Steam console i typed "download_depot 435150 435151 8941474604903452952" and it will download the whole 55GB. Make sure your partition with the steam installation have enough free space. After that i just replaced the four folders in the directory of DOS2. I only have to show how i get my mother language german back because all texts ingame are now english.

I believe its the same principle but instead of content you choose the language

Yes, it worked fine and took only 5MB. A good sign may be that just yesterday Larian updated some branch(es) of the game. Next Update is coming. :)
