There are a few sources but really you're going to start getting them when you get the Source Drain ability and use it on the ghosts of the people you kill.

Are you not following the main plot, or are you just going slowly?

To collect source, you first need your collar off. That's done for one person if you win the Fort Joy Arena fight and speak to Nebora. The net time to do it is afterwards by rescuing Gareth at the armory, then talking to the Dwarf and child in the Seeker camp. The third way happens automatically after leaving the first island completely.

Inside the ruin where Gareth was is an infnite Source fountain. There's another in Act 2 which requires a little bit of progress down the main plot.

I have no idea what the main plot is, but I have the collar off

Have you made it out of Fort Joy and into the Hollow Marshes yet? If you have and you've seen silver-green pools of something on the ground--there should be a number of them in an area where burning pigs are running around, for example--those are Source pools. Have a character whose collar is off walk over the pool, and they'll absorb it as a Source point automatically.

Apart from scattered Source pools, there's the Source fountain Stabbey mentioned behind a door in the ruins where you rescue Gareth, which you'll also find in the Hollow Marshes. Click the fountain to create a Source pool and have your collar-less characters walk over the pool to absorb it. Repeat until everyone's full-up on Source!

If you haven't made it out of Fort Joy yet, though, I'm pretty sure you'll need to do that before you encounter any Source. I don't recall that there's any Source accessible to you before you've escaped the fort, but I could be misremembering.

Is winning the game based on getting enough source point from helpers, etc?

The game is just so big and everybody jsut tells you what's going on instead of showing you so there's no way to keep track of what's going on even if you write notes

Your journal log will literally tell you the story of everything you've done and are trying to do.

I sincerely hope you either figured it out or moved on in the two years since you made this thread.
