Most Interesting Party?
Playing my main as Ifan speced as a fighter, what's the most interesting party story wise?

Not Ifan.

Fane has the most Metaplot attached to him.
Lohse is the best companion.
Sebille and Prince are interesting, but ultimately ends like a custom race.
Ifan has some early stuff and a small part to play at the very end - not great though.
Beast has a nice accent.

I think it all depends on what you find "interesting" in terms of story background and characters. But I think Red Prince has a nice "Story Reward". IOW, something that might even change the way you do battle.

My first team was a custom character Death Knight, Lohse, Ifan, and The Red Prince. I think I had the best experience with that group more than anything.

Lohse has the best story overall that will get you caring and invested in its outcome.

Fane has the most plot relevant story.

Red and Sebille have the most character development and growth.

Beast has the best accent and personality.

Ifan has....a neat level 5 bow. Some connections in act 2. That's about it.

Are there issues if you take Red Prince with Sibelle? I was thinking of taking her, Red Prince, and Fane. So two warriors, one wizzard, one rogue.

I'm playing as Ifan, not a custom character.

I'm aware from the original post. But since you're early game enough to be asking this, I would assume you're early enough to reset if you wanted a better party story wise. He still only gets a neat bow and some underworld connections in act 2 in either case.

The best advice anyone can give a new player is: do two lone wolves instead of 4 regulars. So much better, and im a gear junky but constantly trying to keep 4 chara geared can get eye-numbing.

The game feels too easy when you use two lone wolves. You just destroy everything that goes in your way without even trying, especially when you are using 2 Burst Rogues.

But you don’t HAVE to uber meta. I agree it’s easier if going full-on meta. But the “easier” part opens up a lot of the game’s skills, spells, combos, hybrids, etc.

Then, its not easier. It can be just as hard, if not harder, based on your build and some battles 2 LW’s can get stun locked (I hate cursed water with so much passion).

And finally- to me, the extra AP is the best part. There are so many spell/skill combos and you are so... stunted... in non-LW play. It allows you creatively chain abilities instead of each character doing one thing then ending turn.

I feel that Ifan is often undersold in that, while he doesn't get a lot of mechanical perks, he does have a personal connection to most of what's going on in the present day (one way or another) and his character development/dialogue builds on that all throughout the story. This works much better with him as a main rather than as a companion though; he does feel somewhat flat as a tagalong.

My personal issue (if you want to call it an issue) with Ifan is that he's too connected to the present day world. He doesn't feel like he's adding anything to the central plot, he's just kinda there and vaguely connected to most of the central plot. Like as if he started as a Gareth type of npc and got added in as a companion instead.

All the others feel like you're getting the campaign story AND their personal story, while he feels like just the campaign plot 2.0

Kinda my issue with Fane too. Companions shouldn’t be too linked to the main story otherwise they’re not really adding much. Most of what you learn with Fane you can learn without if you piece it together yourself. I liked his ability because it’s broken strong, but otherwise I’d take even Beast first. He’s sill better than Ifan, but both are at the bottom for me. Don’t really like his character acts much either. I feel like more questions get raised about him that get answered and much of him just seems to be the product of convenience.
