What is needed in a hypothetical DOS 3 is a special merchant (one in each town) that sells about 30 crafting supplies, and whose inventory refreshes IMMEDIATELY after ending trade with a new random selection of 30 items. That would function as a good gold sink and allow players to make better use of the crafting system.
Also, gold sink? Refreshing immediately? That's more what a mod would do, the game choose to be that way.
Intestines are quite rare. No way to make them poof up, try seeking places with dead bodies.
Maybe some random NPC may hold some on them ?
Npc you can trade with and who aren't traders sometimes have the reagent you need. No way to ensure getting a good supply though.
