You could try to engage battle on the bridge between voidvoken and the paladins, but be aware there will be more voidvoken spawned on top of your characters. So, stay way back, and try to range some enemy down. They do give tons of xp. Once you get one dead, flee from the battle.
The Harbour could be easier until you have strong ranged damage. Ignore Kraken, stay away from Tenticles (these have range) and try to start a fight with only 1-2 voidvoken from far away. I was able to kill them all from the ledge on the south side as they did not attempt to climb up using ladders. After voidvoken are dead, flee and reset party. Then you can start to take off tenticles one by one, just use range and pick a position where only 1 of them can hit you.
- Make sure to gear up.
- Make sure to always use source skills if you are magic party
- Make sure to buy up to date weapons from vendor if you are physical party
- Stock up resurrection scrolls
- If you are ambushed by demon in town, focus on 1 until he almost dies, they retreat afterward
- Only use resurrection in combat when you outnumber enemy.
You can not avoid deaths here,
Once you get into the city, the White Magister lair quest prompted by Lord Kemm is level 18 and isn't too hard. That's probably the easiest area in Arx... after that, be sure to try to explore as much as you can to get the exploration bonus experience (save often as you'll get ambushed occasionally and the ambushes are very strong). Be sure your gear is as up-to-date as you can get it.
It will probably be a slog until you can get at least level 18, maybe 19, but it should be doable. Remember that controlling battles is definitely your friend here. If you're fighting multiple enemies, it's really essential that you keep them pinned down with knockdowns/freezes/stuns .
