Best Build "Story-wise"
Hey, guys. Need a hint.

I´ve played this game before on Classic-Mode by myself (barrelmancer) and with Co-op Multiplayer (2 LW Magical Build). Unfortunately, haven´t gone much further than the 2 Act.

I was wondering about starting a playthrough based entirely on Roleplaying, meaning that I would star on Story-Mode and just play it for the fun. No bother at all about the min/max builds and where to gather the most exp and etc... really just for the fun and full enjoyment of the story.

My question is: what should I not miss at all at character creation and what else must I not forgot in order the enjoy the most of this game?

For example: as for talents, I was considering taking Pet Pal straight away. Knowing I can find animals to talk early at the Ship. For civil, Persuasion seems awesome and also Thievery (maybe?). As for Combat, Summoning at least for Act 1, maybe early 2.

The tags scholar and mystic. Both on a custom or however you prefer, you miss content throughout the game without. I recommend scholar on “your” character, same as persuasion.

With combat taking a second seat, I’d suggest a healthy mix of builds. A mage of a sort, you can take summoning as a side on an archer, a rogue, and a melee of any sort. If you prefer exploring magic a bit more, try both main mage builds and consider a finesse based spear user. They’re an interesting take on the two handed warrior. You can probably make one mage a battlemage, possibly even using the default version with dual physical weapons. As long as classic wasn’t difficult for you and you’re just opting into story mode, having inefficient builds shouldn’t matter much. Just a few ideas.

My impression is in story mode you can do pretty much whatever you want as far as builds go and you'll be fine. You might want to roleplay your characters close to their personalities... e.g. Sebille probably makes the most sense with thief skills; Ifan ought to be a marksman; Lohse and Fane are spellcasters, Beast and RP are fighters of some sort.

Oh boy. I completely forgot about Tags! Since I can have two tags per character, I might just have them all.

I was considering playing two custom LW summoners (since summoning scales mostly of the combat skill itself and I can manage any damage type by casting into different terrains).

Yep, that is another doubt. Not sure what is the best: custom and make my own choices or RP a Origin...

For this kind of playthrough, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to play the character you... well the one you want. If you want a female lizard, a male elf or whatever isn’t covered by origin characters, that’s what you choose. So if you have any hesitation to play origin characters, then play that custom character you want. A perfect example is my history of characters. A I’ve played at least four iterations of the female lizard as I love the way their armor looks. I mean, I played ESO for awhile and of the eight characters I was limited to and ten total races available, five of my characters were khajiit and two argonian. Play what you like. You’ll be happier in the end that you did.

Not to mention that playing custom means you can take whatever build you like without worry of what fits your character.

Oh yeah, I thought all about it. Human and Elf are the races I´ve played the most. Been keen to try the Undead and Lizard. Going custom seems to me more about fun and freedom since I can choose whatever I want in terms of roleplaying each conversation and making vital decisions that would interfere late in the game.

Don’t know if the two combined change it somehow, assuming you might be considering undead lizard, but I’ve always found the female lizard romance with the Prince to be one of the best parts of the game, especially the writing and dialogue options. If I had to make a top ten list of the best dialogues in the game, a significant portion would be from that. Some people dislike it, some people hate The Prince literally for this story arc, but I find the conflict and such that comes from the whole thing is the best part. So that might be an option if you’re interested.

Maybe I’m biased, but I honestly think that a lizard with the noble tag, the Prince included, are some of the most fun characters to roleplay as. Everyone assumes you’re going to be all superior and pompous anyway, might as well live up to their expectations. :fhappy::dwarven:
