I couldn't tell Griff that stingtail has his supplies?

After stingtail tells me he has the supplies? I don't understand, if this was Witcher or PoE that option would be on the table. I do hope the game doesn't carry on like this.

Why no option such as telling him he has his supplies without us killing, pursuading or pick pocketing Stingtail?

Because you made a deal to deliver Griff his stolen goods, not one to find out who stole them.

Did Stingtail die? As far as i remember Griff should always ask you who stole the supplies when you give them back unless you already killed him (as part of Sebille's quest for instance).

The quest is to bring him the supplies. You didn't do that yet did you?
