Purging in Act 2

I sold my purging items from fort joy, now i've come across some shriekers. Am I boned or is there some way to get the ability to purge in the act?

Do your main story a bit, until you get the ability to drain essence from people and spirits, once you have that you can use it to kill shriekers.

You can also use it, in conjunction with your spirit sight, to kill some bound undead - such as those guards you find in the graveyard. Just destroy the spirit and the undead they're tied to die as well.

The purge ability you get later in the game is too short ranged to target them safely from a frontal approach. But there are some tricky methods you can use to get close to them without getting killed.
