This over Assassin's creed odyssey?
Hello,
Do you guys think that this game is better in value and content than assassin's creed odyssey? I love rpg's although don't have that much experience with turn based combat but the different types of classes and the story seems really interesting.
I still need to finish origins which i like (the setup, the environments, not the grind though).

Hey you.

Whilst AC:O certainly is awesome, I would recommend Dos2 over it because of the fact that it has way more replayvalue and doesn't get as repetitive with sidequests/exploring as odyssey does. My opinion at least. Both good games, but contentwise Dos2 wins.

I think Assassins creed is half off at gamestop for new copies, so i would get Dos2 on steam at the moment, because you can get AC for cheap elsewhere. At least if you HAD to buy a game right now, AC from gamestop, or Dos2 from here would be my advice

Yea, from what i saw the game seems to be much more vivid in terms of quests and exploration. Thanks :)

I don't have access to gamestop from here but i think that the game will get cheaper in the future. I also think that it's better to wait for future content as i was ready to buy the gold edition. Thanks :)

Assassin's Creed series should have ended at AC:3, or even AC:2, yet ubisoft keeps milking it and makes new "game" literally every year. Even leaving aside lots of anti-consumer practices like DLC spam, always-online DRM or microtransactions (and grinding to force them) in Origins and Odyssey, Assassin's Creed games were always incredibly dull, repetitive and tedious. Who can call AC:O a good game is either a casual or a console peasant.

Although i agree to a certain extent, for some players repetitive and tedious is not a bad thing. Calling the game dull is true on some levels but not completely. I, for instance, never played the previous games from the assassin's creed series but i like ARPG's a lot (grim dawn, path of exile, diablo II) and Origins has that ARPG vibe and the setting, the environment and the atmosphere that are awesome and at a discount worth the price to me.

But i want more story, choices and more freedom with consequences and that's why i think that i'm gonna like divinity: original sin 2 instead of odyssey more. I may pick it up later with a better discount though.

It depends. If you’re like me and haven’t touched one of the games since AC 2, it can be fun to play again. I’m actually considering getting this one if I can get it 50% or less. But if you haven’t played the older ones, it’s entirely different. Just depends who you’re talking to. Divinity luckily doesn’t suffer this issue :fhappy:

If you think AC Origins/Odyssey forces microtransactions on you then you're horribly misinformed.

It definitely encourages microtransactions. I had gold issues keeping my gear leveled. That is the only reason for the rpg mechanics in AC:Oddesey. An assasin's creed game where you have to shoot a guy 50 times in the face because your gear is too weak is not an assassin's creed game. They wouldn't include gold and exp boosters if they did not know some would find it tedious to play.

nah you were doin it wrong, only really need to upgrade it every 10 levels before it makes any real impact on att and def
and the more you play the less you need to upgrade until you dont at all

this vs that? apples vs oranges
both are excellent imho

To everyone choosing between this and AC:Odyssey:

D:OS 2 - released 1 year 2 months ago, discount - 35%
AC:Odyssey - released 2 months ago, discount - 50%

They're very different games. I'vwe played both and really enjoy both. If you can afford it then buy both. If you can only afford one, then it will depend on what sort of game you like to play. 1st or 3rd person 'FPS' type open-world RPG's? Odyssey. if you enjoy old-school RPG's like Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and the more modern Obsidian games then I'd recommend DOS2.

Really I'd recommend both. They're both great games but have nearly nothing in common other than being labelled as RPG's.

I have just been trying out ACO.
ACO is real time over the shoulder. So plays much more like a Skyrim game than a NWN game.
A big difference, for me at least, is character building is much simpler in ACO. Almost as if the character building has been dumbed down in favour of button mashing real time action.

ACO's graphics come across as more realistic than colourful. Reminds me a bit of the recent Tomb Raider games, but much more open world.
