How to increase reputation with vendors
I keep seeing people say to give gold to npc vendor to get better price on stuff but can't find a way to give them gold. I did see a button or something before where it said you can gift them gold or item and then you do it but I don't know how I did it and I can't find it anywhere now. How do you do it?
Also everyone say getting gold is too easy but I only got like 90 gold and I want to buy skill books for my peoples and they are like 280 each. I read where it says not to steal until level 4 cause then they got level 2 books but I still need some level 1 books so how do I get all that gold to buy them before level 4?
If I sell all the stuff I got that I don't need with my person who has bartering + 2 it is only enough to buy 1 book. I need like 5 or 6. I don't see much else to steal that is lying around. This is at fort joy. we are only level 2 so far. I do not want to cheat.

Start Trade with NPC vendor. Drag gold from your bag into trading window. Don't ask any items from vendor. Accept. Attitude increased.

Be aware that even with +100 Attitude you won't be getting anything for free, I think there is about 20% price reduction only.

You are still low level to worry about buying stuff too much. Some skill books drop from dead enemies or are given as quest rewards.

You can also Pickpocket from vendors (only once per NPC). Have one of chars increase Thievery, enter into Sneak Mode (shortcut key C), make sure no NPC will be able to see you while sneaking. Usually easier outside of town where only 1-2 NPC are hanging and they do not move around much. While in Sneak mode right click NPC and use Pickpocket command. Any item you Steal this way will be marked as "Stolen" so you may want to take only gold and Skill Books. The NPC will notice you have been stealing and wants to search your inventory so drop the stolen items to ground before that.

Now, in general, you make money in the game killing stuff and searching for loot. Make sure you click on every barrel and crate and always take everything you find. If not usable, these can be sold. You can actually sell all the potions, grenades and crafting items too since very few are required in the fights. You can also kill many neutral NPCs for extra loot, but make sure you help them first by finishing quests they have.

How much would it cost to get +100 attitude? If it is 200 gold, and you get a 20% discount, then spending 1000 gold it comes out even, more than 1000 gold and you ahead of the game. Found some data from Driftwood where it takes 600 to 1000 gold to get to +100

I think vendors have different price for attitude. If you really want to invest money that way, save, gift, note the change and reload. If you do that to even one vendor at the start of Driftwood and then sell all the junk to same NPC it should pay off pretty fast.

But honestly, I have not bothered with gifting myself.

Don't remember the exact amount. But it is very cheap compared to the savings you get from using the same vendor during most of an act.

Just invest bartering on one of your party member and pick everything.

In the end of act 2 I had110.000 gold, and spent around 50.000 gold to buy some epic or legendary gears from vendors before moving to act 3. I still have couple of bags with 20-30k gold value, I can sell them for 15k gold each i guess. And I never do gift thing to vendors

You could have achieved the same wealth without wasting civic points on an otherwise useless skill.

The amount of gold it takes to get to 100 attitude scales based on the level of the vendor, but points in Persuasion gives you a flat +5 to attitude per point which gives you a head start, and the amount you invest pays off in the long run from selling all your unneeded items with better prices.

thanks for reply. as soon as I put this on here I go back to the game and figure it out. haha. It has gold amount above ur inventory and I not see the gold pile in a square because I got a bunch of stuff in all the squares..................................... ya it is rly easy. after u say that it is not good I will not do it. maybe in next act. I have barter skill on one of my people and lucky charm on my guy and persuasion on another person and thievery on another one.
