Local coop with different controllers?
Is it possible to play this game in local coop using a PS4 controller for one player and an Xbox One controller for the other?

Asking because MS require their stupid adapter for more than one Xbone controller to connect via bluetooth, and I have no interest in giving them money for this grab.
Much appreciated.

And if not, does it play well with just 2 dualshock 4 controllers?

Sure, you can play with 2 dualshocks, and you play with 2 different controllers, only problem is if you play with 2 different controllers, button hints will be either XO or PS4

not a huge problem, as long as it doesn't cause technical issues with the game.

my PC died so I can't test myself but I'd appreciate if someone did
I don't know about the MS control and a playstation control, but I bet they would. I use a steam controller and a Logitech PS style controller at the same time ; When I play with my kids.
