The portrait is bound to a texture atlas, and there are two photo booths in the game: Character creation and photo booth. First happens for origins on game start, the rest are shared in its own level during the game and its magic mirror.

The only way to alter the portrait would be to re-do the photo booth to your liking.

At least this is my best educated guess after working with it for a few new origin characters. Although the character creation portrait doesn't seem to be as easily friendly with custom races... :/

So you're basically telling me to suck it up?
Is it really that hard to somehow mod the Origin Portraits into the character creation menu?

Their starting picture isn't generated from the game. They're "hand drawn" hence being super nice. But after that, portraits are "snapshot" in a photo booth within the character creation stuff they use for the mirror.

It's not hard to alter it, but it is difficult to alter it 'and' make it look nicer than current.
