Withermore is not required to open the door. I've been through that point several times and never once have I even seen him there.
You simply have to:
Click on the thing to the left of the barrier. Choose the option to lay your hand on it. Choose the option to focus your source magic on it.
Withermore is just an alternate method of getting past the barrier.
Then he walked over upset that someone had commited a murder(against himself), asked me about it. I confessed, killed him again. Then I took my stuff from his corpse. I clicked on the brazier again, he was summoned again, and then the dialogue to open the door finally started working.
I didn't have the option to open the door with source by myself, it just kept summoning withermore and wouldn't let me interact with anything.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! It was the only reply that actually helped me xD
so I tried killing him again, except this time he didn't respawn and I could just interact with the post as if he didn't show up, which was a bummer because thats the whole reason I didn't kill him in Fort Joy was for this interaction lol
Thanks!!
THANKS BRO, that was the only way to bypass the bug.
