Item keep auto-adding to my bar

is there anyway to disable this? it's very annoying when I'm picking up a book and it auto added to the bar and i have to rearrange it.

Until now I do not think there is, something you can do is use Hotbar 2, so all the trash goes to hotbar 1.

Go into Gameplay options and scroll all the way down to the bottom. You can use the checkboxes there to adjust what you want automatically added to your hotbar.

I uncheck everything except 'Add new skills' and 'Remove unmemorized skills'. Some very specific items such as bedrolls and Teleporter Pyramids are still covered under those two checkboxes, so keep that in mind.

Unchecking remove unmemorized skills is actually really helpful. It stops it from removing polymorph skills from your bar after the buff ends.

Holy snappin arseh0les, thank you so much. I read 3 other posts and they all said there's no in game option or plan to fix this annoyance. I frequently forget to scroll down in every option tab. Thank you again!

ya its a very overlooked thing that most don't know exists I tend to even forget it and just accept the mess though I am also one that often just leaves abilities where they fall

Pro tip, use/set your mouse forward/backward buttons to scroll through different hotbars. I always put potions, scrolls, bedrolls etc on hotbar 2.

With the options to disable spells and items to the hotbar you should never see something added to hotbar 1.
