Freezing room in Arx Harbor
Any idea how you're supposed to thaw the room to properly speak with the NPCs inside it?
Being on fire won't stop me from being frozen or chilled. If i set them on fire via molotov they'll aggro me.

I haven't gotten to Arx, but if you're jsut removing the frozen status then magic shell should work.

I'm playing solo, I can't thaw myself, you'll see when you get there.
Basically inside this room, after about 10 seconds you will get chilled through magic armor, then frozen, also through magic armor. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to stop this scripted freezing effect. For now I just got through it by using teleport pyramids, one outside and one inside, to reset the freeze buildup every few seconds.
I already know of someone that bricked their Honor run by entering this room and getting permanently frozen.
If you keep that one Tyrant's armor piece (the chest, I think?) that makes you permanently warm that should probably let you run through it without issue.

It's the helmet, but yes, that sounds like a solid idea. I think the chest piece puts you on fire though, should also work here. I lit the ground on fire and walked through it. It goes out quickly, so you need to reapply it, but it works. To thaw them, you need to move the candles over in the middle of the family.

There is a firelamp in the boat. When you activate it, it will keep the characters around it warm. Take one caster high in telekinesis or magic to retrieve it and activate it. You can then move it near the frozen civilians who will give you a key to the chest in the boat. You will need to warm the chest with a fire spell to open it.

once you get "chilled" you can cast magic shell on youself.. and the frozen status would not work.
that's what i did... i also played solo and just finished the game.

There is a boat at the middle of the room. You need to move near the frozen family and you can see that firelamp.

You can teleport or use telekinesis to grab it. Then put it on the ground and click on it.
Solved a problem so:
1. Lit all torches. Quickly to return, left 1 pyramid of teleportation from above at the hatch, another and so returned to fast access right there when the hero reported that he will freeze soon, about the room jumped a tactical jump.
2. Transferred closer to itself a lamp from the boat in the cellar teleportation. Jumped to the frozen ones and brought the fiery lamp to them.
3. They got warm.
4. Started talking. in dialogue did not freeze. Furnished the clue from a chest by the boat in the cellar (the truth the chest can be unlocked fire).
5. After dialogue, the room does not freeze.
No different way defroze the room.

Took a fiery lamp to itself, interestingly, it still can be useful later?
If you kept the "Heart of the Tyrant" chest armor from early in the game, it is cursed and constantly sets you on fire. The effect of the freezing in the room will be constantly cancelled and you can walk around freely without taking damage or dying from either.

This. I had to go in with a character that can teleport things. I cast some flame AOE, moved to where I could see the lamp, teleported it to my feet, turned it on. Moved it incrementally near the ladder, brought my crew in, spoke with the family, and completed the cellar area. As zrbialk said, warm the chest via fire spell to open.

I used the helmet from the Tyrant set that gives you permanent "warm" status and it works indefinitely while in that room also. I didn't used fancy lamp to thaw people though, I just set them on fire and they defrosted and safely escaped afterwards :)
the room kept freezing after the dialogue was over for me :(
to get the family unfroze i had my pyro boy summon a fire slug and when he slithered over to the oil barrels everything exploded and made it easier to melt all the ice. the family didn't get aggro because it was the slug that exploded everything not me apparently lol
anyway even if you melt all the ice it WILL refreeze so u still gotta be timely!
Wow... so many ways to do this! (Tornato was the only magic i used) So, here's me:
1. clean the ice and oil off floors with tornato-> Clean a section, run up the ladder before you freeze. Quicksave, repeat.
2. You need to light the torches along the walls (they are just normal torches). Its a bit dark so i didnt notice them at first but there is like 4 or 5 of them. One is just directly across from the ladder. So take a quick look.
3. Sometimes junk is in front of the torches or too close to ladder. If it's in your way and slowing you down then Pick it up bit by bit and dump it outside. Quicksave each time you warm up outside.
4. Light torches. Do one > warm up topside> Do the next. They will stay light even after you go back up the hatch.
5. Room did not refreeze once all torches were lit. Yay! Died alot but finally made it and the family got out safe.
