Report a translation problem
Edit: I'm not at Fort Joy and I'm lazy to create another character to get there. But I'm using the portable respec mirror (the Fort Joy version, it spawns 4 small respec mirrors next to the Braccus Rex waypoint statue on the first beach), that I keep in the main backpack in addition to the Fort Joy respec mirror mod from Workshop. When using it to respec and remove a point from Polly, it removes a point from strength (probably because it's the most top one), leaving me with no spare point in attributes, putting that point back into Polly gives me back that point to assign in whatever attribute I desire. So there's no duping in those mods.
Though I don't know if the official one burns into the save, you might want to start a new game with the Workshop mods. But they work well.
To reproduce this, go to Lady Vengeance using a character without polymorph. Dump X points into polymorph, and exit. Voila, you have 2X free attribute points. You can even repeat this by removing all points in polymorph, exiting the mirror and doing it again.

(What that guy is claiming, about having to not spend the extra points at the start, is unnecessary. The game just bugs out and erronously gives another point when you exit the mirror.)

Essentially I'm demonstrating the fact that I have no mods installed, and that I am getting two times the attributes. Removing polymorph only takes away one, so effectively the extra point is permanent.
It also does not matter whether or not you spend the points inside, or outside the mirror. It always happens regardless of what you do. (see 1:12 and 1:39 for comparison)
