PC Steam Version vs Switch?
I have never played any Divinity game and want to buy Original Sin 2. My question is in regards to the Switch version. Does it play good and looks close the PC version, or is there no comparison. I am interested in the Switch version just for more of the mobility, but don't want to get the Switch version if there is too many trade offs.

Also I heard this game is cross platform. Do have to buy both the PC version and Switch to cross-play or can you get away with buying one?

Thanks

Pretty sure you have to buy both if you want it on both.

Also, there isn’t really any major difference functionally, besides PC having a greater selection of mods, but much of the user interface works better with a mouse and keyboard. I’m not familiar with the switch, but that’s just one things I’ve learned from the forums. It’s just less convenient without a mouse.

I confirm what chaolink says.
The game is of course more beautiful on PC, you have the mods and the game is much more playable on the keyboard and mouse (even if it remains very good on the controller when you know how to use it)
BUT on switch it's really cool to be able to play everywhere and it's still beautiful on a small screen.

I agree, I tried with a friend on couch coop last week end, on PC with controllers and I thought that I would have done much better with a mouse.
The console version (or PC with a controller) has an advantage, the search option that let's you pick/open every container in an area by holding A (on Xbox, B on switch, X on ps4) during 2 seconds.

Console versions don't have game master mode, many don't use it, so no big deal for most.

The only "cross" thing that I am aware of with divinity original sin 2, are the saves between steam cloud and switch. (But with switch you won't play with a friend on PC)

Thanks everyone. Another question I have if i go with the PC version - What is the difference between standard and eternal edition. Is it worth the extra $20? Does the switch version include the eternal edition?

Thanks

The eternal version just adds extra digital goodies. The dev only sell the definitive edition. So no matter what you buy. You won't miss in-game content.

I actually bought the game on ps4 recently. Cuz i just wanna chill on my couch. Sitting in front of pc was uncomfortable for me. Its a long game. So keep that in mind if you have a hard time sitting in front of computer for the 60+ hours it takes for this game plus its replayability.

I have both the pc version and switch version.
PC is great and looks amazing!
The switch is portable but not quite as pretty. However it is exactly the same game and includes the gift bag mods.
With the steam save sharing you can switch between the 2 in minutes.

Have it on Switch. It's good enough for me.
