Start with Polymorph 1 for Bull Rush and Tentacle Lash
Bull Rush: Good damage, mobility, spammable for 3 turns
Tentacle: Great damage, purely based on STR
Warfare for Battering Ram, Battle Stomp
Battering Ram: Great for knockdown
Battle Stomp: Again, knockdown
You will want to buy some skill books, I recommend:
Chameleon Cloak - for easy repositioning or lose aggro completely. Or start the fight at prime position
Other notable stuff:
Mobility skill: either wait for Phoenix Dive or go for Polymorph's Wing.
Start with Poly/Warfare. Put a point into Hydro/Scoundrel for Vampyric Hunger
Put about 2 points into necromancy, pump Warfare after.
Bullrush/Tentacle is great, as are any Warfare skills that hit AoE/close distance. Grab Adrenaline from Scoundrel, and maybe Armor of Frost to replensih magic Armor.
Bone cage is great for replensishing armor. Things like Shackles of pain is great sicne you'll be taking tons of damage by being in the middle of things.
...there's no real reason for Fane to do this, I guess. And it works with anyone, but Fane Death Knight seemed cool.

This actually sounds better than the full Warfare / Necro I was thinking of. And yeah I imagine Fane as either a Wizard / Summoner type character, or as a Melee Necro Knight of some sort. So this will work pretty well.
Now I've got to come up with builds for the other 3 characters. I was planning on making Lohse the main healer with both max Hydro / Geo for normal heals, plus poison spells. But I really want a summoner in the party as well, so if Fane is going to be a Death Knight now, then I might want to make Lohse Summoner + Support, and make someone else a healer.
The attraction of Necro/Hydro is Vampiric Hunger which is great but has a short duration and requires two skill books to combine to get the skill which will be difficult to afford in the beginning.
Going with Warfare/Poly at the start gets you an effective combatant from the start. Bull Rush gets you movement, a move-thru attack and bleeding; Tentacle Lash gets you a hard hitting atrophy applying ranged attack; and Bull Rush or Battle Stomp get you another AoE knockdown.
Have two points in Warfare when you get to level four for new skills so you can have the necro and hydro in the build at level three.
(1) Louse (1 hd/shield - Frost Paladin)
Job descrption - lay down some ice, magic armor restore, heal others, annoy enemies.
(2) Red Prince (2 hd - Eternal Knight)
Job description - heavy dmg - self-reliant
(3) Ifan (xbow/bow - Ranger/Summoner)
Job description - heavy dmg + Summon for distraction
(4) Fane (wand/shield - Terramancer [Geo/Necro])
Job description - heavy dmg + phys.armor restore)
For the most part, they work well together - except for Ifan that seems to require some babysitting from time to time, since all he has is 'tactical retreat' and 'first aid'. He has no armor buffs, but can be buffed by any of the other 3 characters.
I'm currently enjoying having 3 characters equip 'Shackles of Pain' in order to confuse the AI, plus I love the animation :)
