Okay one thing to try if you keep looping: delete everything DOS2. Go to steam settings-> downloads and find clear download cache. Now try downloading again and give it some time to install after the download finishes
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you're a god, I only had 15 gigs free, deleting some ♥♥♥♥ solved it. Thanks.
Back to the exact same thing. Now, if you let THIS mini update window time-out, it tells you to go run "SupportTool.exe" in a specific folder. I went to do that and ... found the file didn't exist. Got my partner with D:OS2 to send me a copy of his, clicked it and ... it's the game's launcher, which has no facility to error check, feedback on bugs, find support etc.
Went to validate the game files via Steam and it says they are all valid. I'm sitting here thinking what else I can try, but aside from wasting another 40gb etc. of my month's limit on re-downloading it, I am stumped.
Right now, I am unable to play or update this game at all. For all intents and purposes, it is 56gb of wasted space. This is a real issue that needs to be sorted.
**For reference, I already have DE installed and was playing it last night.
Glad to help. I'm gonna run into the same problem soon: https://imgur.com/a/emiZ8cd
Does classic edition still work for you?
I think that did it. (we'll see after it downloads again) Turns out I only had 7gb free on that drive, so I moved it to my new SSD. I would've thought that Steam or the installer would check how much free disk space you have before attempting something like that. I mean, it does it for new installs, but doesn't do it apparently for updates.
