Lone wolf nerf in patch notes - someone explain
Lone Wolf nerfs (can't increase attributes and combat abilities past 40 or 10 respectively anymore).

Am i misunderstanding this, can you not put in more then 10 points overall and then itll get doubled to 20 still or is it implying you cant put in more then 5 points and the double will max at 10 on ability points? this seems like a severe hindrance more then anything or am i just stupid because now it seems you will basically be a jack of trades now with this limit.

Some people were complaining "THIS GAME IS TOO EASY LARIAN MAKE IT HARDER". I have to wonder how many of those same people are now going "LARIAN I CAN'T ROFLSTOMP THROUGH THE GAME ON LONE WOLF THIS SUCKS".

Lone Wolf was intended to be an alteranative way to play, not the single easiest and best way to play.

Oh sweet God I dont think people read everything. My issue is that it's literally over nerfed. There is literally no point in even grabbing the talent that gives you more attribute points esp late game it could have been balanced better and I'm quite sure they will add more patches later to balance it again and again.

That Talent always sucked ass and the only reason to ever get it was - at best - to temporarily use in Fort Joy until you could get to the mirror and respec into something better.

Just don't really see the need to nerf certain playstyles. It's not like the game has competitive multiplayer. Some people, like myself, enjoyed playing Lone Wolf simply because I don't like having to control 4 people. A 2-person party is a more "true" RPG experience for me.

But now, I'm not even done with Act 1, and I've already reached the Attribute cap... so you're telling me that for 75% of the game, I literally CAN'T progress when it comes to Attributes? Wow.

And now every Lone Wolf character I create will basically be the same, because I can't specialize anymore. I HAVE to make a jack of all trades character. Just kind of counter-intuitive to the whole "RPG experience" thing, you know?

It was over powered to the point of ruining the gameplay experience for enough people that Larian decided it was the right thing to do.

Sorry, but this is just the human version of those crabs that pull other crabs back down into the bucket. Who cares about something being a little overpowered? Let people have their fun, you don't have to do it. PC players got to enjoy it for years, and now that it's finally out on Xbox, they make it much harder to play with just 2 players. Just let the game be.

idk. Lone Wolf was always a hybrid option to me, so it doesn't really change anything for me.

EDIT: You can also play the game in Classic Mode, and I assume that doesn't include the DE changes.

Old Lone Wolf was so busted it completely trivialized the game's combat scenarios. Saying it was a 'little' overpowered is a huge understatement. There's always the Story difficulty setting if you want to walk through combat encounters with impunity, or mods if you want that talent to return it its gamebreaking state.

Per usual, the vocal minority is so quick to make strawmanning blanket statements such as "There's always the Story difficulty setting if you want to walk through combat encounters with impunity".

Instead of making the game balanced, better to just make Lone Wolf only viable on Story mode, right?

I'm out, had enough of this community already.

Right, because Lone Wolf was so balanced before. Totally wasn't a glaring outlier or anything.

I actually am a lot more interested in lone wolf now compared to before. Maybe I'll do a double characters run, not sure because I hate how the UI doesn't let you display more than one hotbar which is super annoying when you have so much memory.

As for talents I think the game in general struggles really hard with talents and attributes. Initiative is a joke, the 3 main stats are quite boring and you can't really be original with attributes in general at all.
As for talents some are really inferior and I'm sad to see almost none has changed. I hope the new engine will let us mod talents more easily as it could open the game to a lot more customization. It's strange to think about it when you see how some spells can be so creative but then talents are super boring.
Hate to burst your bubbles... but solo lone wolf is still rather doable. The nerf was necessary.

it still makes u crazy strong early game which is the only hard part in the game for me.

Should just change the name from "lone wolf" to "jack of all trades". I personally don't like when single player games have to do heavy nerfs to certain abilites, especially after a year the games been out. Besides, it's not like the game is going to be harder now, it's not hard and it'll never be, just let us have our fun.

Lone wolf was over powered, really over powered to a point you one combo most encounters.
Pyromus Sep 1, 2018 @ 9:44pm
lol guys. You could literally one shot the final boss on the hardest difficulty with old lone wolf. It was way too easy and this DE version of it is how it probably should have been the whole time.

It was soloable with 1 character, without using lone wolf, on tactical before. And so far the DE version is noticably easier in the 1st Act. Hopefully their tuning of acts 3 and 4 are significant.

I found act 1 to be much easier in DE. The dev's reduced quite a lot of mobs hp/armor. (basically the whole entire end fight scene for act 1, including both the fight with alexander and the fight on the ship with dallis) There is only 1 spot I have found was tuned harder in act 1.
