Pure "Path of Blood" Run
So I've beaten the game a few times now, and think I'll try a "pure" main character run when the definitive edition comes out. I've noticed there are a few threads regarding this, but wondered if there were definitive answers regarding the challenge.

- no stealing (simple)

- no killing. As in don't land the killing blow on ANYTHING. Including from environmental hazards that your char makes. Summon kills are OK from what I understand. Anyone able to confirm this?

- no swearing to God King (simple)

- no source vampirism. This one gets me a bit as from memory you HAVE to use source vampirism on your god to learn it. At a guess to be safe, I guess you just never visit your god to learn the skill? Sucks for the rest of the party and I guess you have to use source skills sparingly, but if I remember correctly you can learn the source vampirism skill from a tablet in Act 3 at the university.

The big question here is, is picking up source from the ground of the giant vials OK? Anyone able to confirm this?

Looking really forward to this final challenge for the run and would appreciate any feedback / facts people have on the above. Will kick myself hard though if 70 hours in I find that statue gunning me down for a simple mistake!

just let your other characters do the dirty stuff, it only checks for the one activating it

yeah, have a character other than your main do it all. mainly for the source vampirism, as I honestly do not know if using it on your god counts or not.

Just finished my own attempt at this run a few days ago, tactician mode, summoner/support/tank custom elf as my pure MC. Source vamp on your god is safe, picking up source from the ground/vats is safe, Summoner is safe(including totems), other party members doing the disallowed stuff is also alright. Really as long as the combat log does not say [pure character] killed X, you should be fine(watch out for flaming crescendo in the boat fight, sometimes the combat log gives the kill to your dude if the explosion/created fire kills). For driftwood you'll probably want to get the third pyramid(Bloodmoon one is easier of the two) as soon as you can and prop it down at the source vat to save you the trouble later on. Generally speaking though you won't have to ration source all that much.

Cheers for the tips! I'm hoping it'll add a fun new element of gameplay. I look forward to having a pathetic, cowardly main instead of a headstrong hero / villain. Here's hoping the new Edition doesn't throw in any unexpected curveballs for this!

Does sneaking count?

Sneaking is deffo OK and highly encouraged!

From memory I finished this run using a summoner / healer main and as everyone else said, just let your colleagues do the dirty work. Make lots of saves to and keep an eye on the chat log, just in case your char does end up getting the killing blow by accident! (EG, leaving poison / fire on the floor)

I once did a tactician run with Lohse as a full healer, full Hydrosophist and still she got naenaed in the path of blood, got mad and used a merc to get the achiev, this game just kicks me in the balls so many times.
