Story Mode is pointless?
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how "Story Mode" is any easier than the Explorer difficulty. Fighting is a little bit easier, but just barely. And I feel like the free resurrect ability is pretty useless since most hard fights kill you with CC anyway so you never get to use it.

Its for "game" journalists.

though replacing honour by it is a dumb idea. The easiest difficulty being right down there is a shame.

A harder mode would've been a better addition to the game. Explorer was easy enough and I understand why a Story Mode might be nice, but if each fight isn't braindead easy, its not much of a Story Mode. Just my opinion.

Why not just enable Console commands for the "journalists" for tgm. LOL

Honor isn't replaced, it's now an option when selecting Tactician difficulty, since it offers no other changes besides one-save-only-and-iron-man.

iirc Story mode also gives everyone Escapist so you can flee at any time you are able to use a turn.

I have no problem with story mode in a game; why not make the game as accessible as you can to everyone? It makes them more money, makes the audience it caters to happier, and harms no one. But, I agree that if there's going to be a Story Mode, it should basically give the PCs Godmode, so they really are guaranteed to win every fight. That way, they can focus on exploring, solving puzzles, and enjoying the narrative.

I would not use such a mode in this game, but I see no harm in providing it for others.

At the end of the day, though ... there's always mods. (and you're not going to be too focused on achievements if you're playing story mode, anyway)

Such games need a "story mode". Belive it or not but there are people out there who enjoy fantasy settings but either aren't good at these kinds of games or aren't good at video games at all. My girlfriend is such...She takes interest in video games but she barely plays them and when she does she sucks at them. She enjoys LoTR and all that kind of stuff and well...RPGs usually have a very good story and a strong, strong lore. It can be quite interesting to explore different fantasy worlds and lores.

I don't see such modes harming anyone. I still play on medium difficulties and hardcore people can still play on tough difficulties. Our experience doesn't suffer from more people being able to
experience the game.

Well actually it's for people who just want to enjoy the story and the world, since it is rather expansive and fun.

Big name journalists are pretty bad because they often play genres they hate, but most of us could probably beat your ass at most any game.

I just feel that Story Mode doesn't address what makes the game hard. CC is by far the most difficult part of combat in the game, but its basically ignored.

Joke aside. It just require the player to still think. Not blast through the game.
Some memorable moments for certain are some tough fights that they couldn't win but found ways to get around. Fort joy being pretty much it. It's really tough for everyone. It forces some fights under poor condition with disadvantages.

I understand the need for easier modes, but they'll have to wait until larian stops changing stats and instead move or remove some NPC's, offer escorts or sotfer/removed mechanics.
Since it's supposedly the definitive edition , I wouldn't hope much.
Only thing left is to sink in hours to understand the game and it's subtleties. Which the """tutorial""" deck could have done. But nah. Missed opportunity.
