where to level up?
i just arrived at driftwood, and my character is level 10, i think i have done most of the quests that were available at Fort Joy. but my level feels extremely underwhelming after i come to the Reaper's Coast, everything here is at least 1 to 2 levels above me. every quest location i need to go to have enemies that are on average level 12 to 14. how the heck am i suppose to beat that? even i have the best tactics, in this game, 1 level different is already huge let alone 2 to 4 level differences. is there a place where i can farm levels? i have play a lot of RPG games before, e.g. Diablo, Dragon Age, and etc. there are always some areas on the map that allows player to farm levels. are there anything like that in Divinity?

do quests or just cheese some of the early fights. its not that hard. i did that fight where you help the woman across the bridge at 2 levels below the enemy. just dragged them behind and placed my party up op by the cemetary and just laid waste on em. got good xp

as for me, enemy in Drift wood are underleveled
and quest rewards too.
For example - after completing Shipwreaking caves (level 11) you will receive level 9 items as a reward for giving Justinianas' letter to magister :((( Feels like i am stiil in Fort Joy :(

I was level 10 when I got to driftwood, there are a ton of quests you can do that do not revolve around difficult combat. maybe switch to lone wolf?

No real grinding in DOS2 but have you visited the Advocate yet? If you go north from town, you'll find Jahan, go West to the ferry (if you have an undead) and agree with the Advocate. You get a ton of xp and a free source point from these. No fighting required.

You should have landed in act two at level 9 or very close to. Your first major quest line takes you into driftwood, then to Lohar. Lohar sends you west out of town to fight possessed dwarfs and enter a cave over there. That should take you all the way to level 11, probably partially to 12. You should then be able to handle the fights you’re having trouble with.

If you have enough roots and ranged characters, you might be able to take down the harbinger boss in paradise downs if you can attack from the high ground while keeping him rooted. Melee is useless here for the most part as the level difference will get you killed quick. Still, if you have 3-5 turns worth of armor ignoring roots, this is a good way to earn early experience and get higher level armor to give you an edge.

Since I just went through this a couple days ago I'll give you a step by step on what I did:

- Arrived off the boat and into Act 2 at level 9 and 60% of the way to 10.
- Have a chat with beached shark and eat it's stomach contents
- Kill the putrid voidlings in beach area
- Cross the bridge on right and help bridgekeeper kill the big voidthingies
- Enter basement and travel through tunnels, solving star-crossed lovers quest along the way, coming out in graveyard
- Pickup quests and complete many quests and minor encounters in graveyard, skipping anything too difficult, reaching level 10 during this bit
- Head back towards town, checking out ambushed caravan on the way
- Free the Miester, killing those magisters by the gallows
- Head into town and perform the ritual
- Head to docks and kill the magisters loading boat
- Tell the kids on docks their friend is dead for some more xp
- Head to fishworks and kill all the dwarves and magisters
- Escort hidden dwarf out of town
- Kill Magisters by the West gate
- Head into town square and kill those magisters and the ones to right by entrance if they didn't join in.
- Go into Magister headquarters and kill them all. Stop by the bulletin board in basement to advance main quest.
- Go to Mordus's house, kill the guy inside then go into basement, solve puzzle, kill undead including boss.
- Go into tavern, get into basement, kill the 'kiss me' thing for the rebirth idol
- Win the arena fight, leveling up to 11 around now.
- Head out of town and help dude who lost his wedding ring
- Continue West and kill some dwarves
- Kill the genie
- Continue West and kill some bad guys near cave entrance
- Now I swing back by Troll bridge and dig up merchant and kill stuff that pops
- Then swing East and North to level 15 Troll and kill him to cross
- Head over to talk to undead vendor then to cliffs to West and jump down and enter caves from back entrance (after grabbing +2 lucky amulet)
- Kill boss and then clear entire cave system in reverse, reaching level 12 during this area. Doing it in reverse means the scripted bit about your party getting split up never happens.
-Head back to town and perform ritual again

Now all clear to finish anything skipped in cemetary on your way to Black Pits

A root is simply any effect that reduces enemy movement to 0. Webs from Spider legs does this, Cripple does this and Worm Tremor from Geo does this. With the talent Torturer, the entangle effect from worm tremor can be applied through armor. Webs from Spider legs (poly tree) ignores armor but is removed by fire. These two can ignore armor, prevents enemies from moving (including teleports) and reduces their dodge significantly.

In the fight I mentioned, keeping the boss rooted with these abilities can keep him (and his minions) from moving while you AoE them down and strip their armors to open them up for CC.
