INSANELY LONG loading times

So my friend got me this game during the xmas sale, yet I have only gotten around to playing it properly now. However, as of recently, loading times (for both me and my friend who is hosting our session) have gotten ABSURDLY long.

When I say absurdly, I do not exaggerate. Joining the server takes at the very least 5 minutes, and often times it goes up to more than 10 minutes.

This is very annoying for obvious reasons, and my friend suspects it's the last patch that caused this, as before that he had never experienced such issues, to which I can attest since I do not remember such issues during my brief playtime in January.

If anyone knows the fix to this, please do help. Keep in mind that BOTH of us experience this problem, but my load time seems to be a tad longer than his. perhaps because he is the host.

No mods at all. Moreover, both of our PCs surpass the recommended specs.

When the game is running, bring up Task Manager (control-shift-ESC might work but you'll probably need to do control-alt-delete if you're playing full screen) and check your performance. If your memory use is getting high, that would explain it.

The original Witcher (pre-enhanced edition) I believe had the worst load times I've ever seen.

act 2 is a mess, the game loads in the entire map and everything. even on a SSD i could sit and wait for 3-4 minutes to complete.

it is a common thing in this game unfortunatly, I have had the same issue
two possible solutions: in your steam library, disable the cloud save option for the game; and delete all of your old, unused save files
that should speed up the process of loading significantly
unfortunatly a lot of people had the issue and these were the two solutions the community came up with that helped most of us

Turning off Steam Cloud is what fixed most of my loading issues.

I don't even have any saves, as my friend is the one loading it every time. And they always load in way before me even though I have mine on an SSD and they don't. Memory usage in task manager is 50%, CPU is 25%, Disk is under 10%.

Just wanna say, what worked for me was taking it off of steam cloud!

all mods are off and deleted and still takes too long to load in a friend server
