Should I kill alexander in act 3?
Title. What's the difference if I leave him alive?

The only real bad magisters are the fanatical white magisters. The rest are just poorer citizens being misled into thinking that they’re doing the right thing.

Wipe them out, all of them.

I don't think XP gain is a good enough reason to kill him. No matter what you do you'll be level 20 at the end. The gap between 20 and 21 is so wide that you have to be pretty meticulous to reach it and anyway it doesn't even matter because end boss is not that hard that you need to squeeze another level out.

If you let him win the arena you'll see something interesting.

Nah, my first playthrough I got to the last boss at 19. Clearing all the main quests in Arx should get you to 21, and if not, the Paladins on the bridge will likely get you there.

But if you read forums while playing, and see what quests are available, and don't rush the ending, yeah, 20 is hard to miss.
You are going out of your way to kill neutrals. Squeezing XP out of killing neutrals falls under meticulous. Doing every single quest in the game falls under meticulous.

You can never kill too many magisters after the ♥♥♥♥ they pulled deaths to good for them and no the they were just following order argument ain't going to cut it any more than it did for the people who ran death camps in real life.

See, that depends on the knowledge that you gather about them.

In short of what I may think:
Most of them don't see (and don't know) it as a death camp, and they strongly believe source attracts voidwokens.
Lucian was a good divinity for human race. Magisters are kinda like obsessed religion. They simply believe Alexander would be the successor. There are higher up people making evil plan. But in principle Magister are on human side.

Sure, alexander is still a prick, even when the influence is gone.
but if u good at persuasion, he will give up ascend and fight on your side. Anyway he will die in the story

Anyway, there are too many info about the war and deathfog and blackring, my understanding could be off.

I wasn't crazy about Gareth getting killed or walking into that whole stinking mess. I positioned my party on the platform that leads to the Mother Tree without triggering the encounter with Alexander. You can kill almost everyone without a fight using poison arrows. Don't hit anyone. Just create a pool of poison at each person's feet and let them die on their own. Even Alexander doesn't do anything. Gareth kind of acts like an idiot during this whole time. He may join you on the platform and actually threaten to fight you if you don't teleport him down before continuing with the assault. There are two combatants that are positioned on a platform above the encounter off to the left. Those are the only enemies that you have to directly engage. Gareth has come to his senses at this point. He thanks you and heads back to the ship after everyone is dead. Since Lohse led my party, dealing with the Sallow Man instead wasn't an option. Teleport him into the lava flows located off to his right after you enter his cave.

I can only hear this in Obi Wan Kenobi's voice.

I've killed all the magisters because I don't trust men in skirts.
I've killed all the paladins because I don't trust faithful people.
I've killed all the gods because I don't trust holy orders.
I've killed all the innocent because I don't trust weakness.

It seems obvious; I'm sitting all alone, being alone means you have every missing piece in the nature in yourself. So:

I've killed myself because I don't trust myself.
Now that is obvious; void won't find anything to consume.
I've killed all the void by leaving it alone, it consumed itself.

Such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I wrote here.
