Soul jar is the vault of braccus rex
Just curious, but are there any meaningful consequences to what you do with the jars?

Trompdors jar is a quest thing for that dungeon, I suppose, depending on whether or not you feel pity for him.

Gratiana's jar I'm sure affects whether or not you see her when you get back to the "rebel camp".

But the other three? The necromancers? Do they have any effect on anything, or is it just what you feel like, or if you want to keep them to refil source?

In terms of questlines or xp or anything like that, is there a difference between choosing to smash the jar and taking it with you and consuming it at a later point in time?

I've found no use for those jars other than to consume their source. If you attempt to talk to those skeletons, they just attack you, so there's no option to release them from their torment other than smashing them to bits.

its really up to you (like everything in the game really) to do whatever you want with them. i think if you smash it you get a slight bit more XP but i cant say for sure.

The three jars that are of the necromancers have a slight use. Later in act 1 you will encounter them. If you smash the jars they will just be... dead dead. If you didn't, they will fight you and you can get the xp for killing their bodies and then once more for their souls. So its mostly a choice between: xp but right away, or more xp later on. But not much

yeah that's what I was wondering, as both trompdor and graitana are people I've met, I was wondering if the three necromancers were someone I could meet as well. So they don't give much xp? Because I think they just put me over the edge in terms of leveling. Graitanas jar, should I bring it to her or something, or just leave it?

There's some linked to some undead necro guardians which someone else mentioned already though Jack is wrong about them attacking you no matter what as you can bargain with them and release their souls peacefully with their consent and without them attacking you.

One of the jars is for that lady in rebel place, she played a very important part in the lore of the world specifically what she did in the past involving Braccus Rex which she will be more willing to explain to you if bring the jar to her and show her you have it. Essentially blackmailing her to tell you about her past. One of the jars I think relates to the guy guarding the place find jars too. Not sure if I missed any Jars in this list, been while since did it and going off memory.

Personally what I did was take all jars with me dragging them into my inventory and when came across someone who's soul is within one I decided what to do with theirs at that stage depending on what they are like and their pasts regarding how they ended up with their soul in the jar. Was no point in my opinion absorbing souls from jars just to refill soul energy since have infinite source of soul energy from a few places can visit and refill your soul bars without absorbing the jars like for example in Meistr Sivas basement.

Either a bug happened (likely) or you did a goof since these skellies are, in fact, interactable with and do react to their soul jars.

Well, that's lame, they just attacked me in my first playthrough so I didn't bother trying again in my second.

Gratinas souljar is up to you what you do with it. If you break it, you will get quite a bit of xp, she will die and drop a lot of good loot. If you give it to her you get the same amount of xp (I'm pretty sure), a quest reward that's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but she will remain a shopkeeper + she will refill items that can purge. Either way, at the end of act 1 she will be gone. Either because you killed her or she just disappeared.

Ok, so what do I do then. Just take all the jars with me except for trompdors which I'll release then and there, and then wait until I meet the other characters before deciding what to do with the others?

What if I don't want to release them, do I just keep them in my inventory? In practical terms I guess there isn't much difference, but in the lore what's the difference between releasing them and consuming them for source? Is that the same as they are no longer trapped for eternity, or is being consumed for source some kind of horrible fate?

I would say, given how the Silent Monks work, probably some kind of horrible fate, it seems like source is basically souls as well, plus they are called soul jars.

She's not explaining anything about her past to me, she's just being pushy and rude about me giving her the jar. She's being quite a ♥♥♥♥♥ about it actually.

Could it be because I had a slightly confrontational tone with her the first time I met her, that either I already pushed her to tell me some things and exhausted the options, or she's decided she doesn't like me?

What kind of background stuff did she tell you when you brought it to her?

I dont remember the exact dialogue choices I picked but I'm sure there plenty of guides about her questline/dialogue online which can check. When I did the quest and showed her the jar with her name on it as opposed to one of the other jars she got desporate for me to give it to her, I basically refused until she tells me why wants it so bad and she explained her past if I recall correctly.

Info about her.

Quest associated with her (one of three quests shes involved in).

Strange, with me she doesn't do that, she just calls me a craven something or other when I do it. She's not offering to tell me any background at all, she just demand the jar and insults me when I don't give it to her.

By the way, maybe we're doing it at different times. Did you do this whole thing before or after saving gareth? I haven't seen gareth yet, maybe that plays a part.

Can't remember. But based on what I know about my own mindset I would have gone to seeker camp before saving Gareth simply because my general rule of thumb is I want to have learned everything I could about someone who is supposed to be important aka part of a main questline before I meet them, their history, what sort of person they are and if need saving for example then checking with people they know to so if person is worth saving.

I knew in Gareth's case I would get more information about him at the camp. Another general rule I have is pick up every quest and talk to everyone in camps, outposts, cities, towns etc when first arrive in them before heading out. Taking both those into account I might not remember whether or not did it in this case but I am pretty sure I would have gone to the camp and talked to everyone and pick up any quests there before heading back out to save Gareth.

I talked to her before meeting Gareth and she told me all about her past, but I don't think I demanded answers before giving it to her. It could have to do with the fact that we were both undead as well for all I know.
