Finding Emmie Quest Glitched?

I tried talking to buddy the dog that gives you the quest on the beach multiple times beforehand but he only whined incessantly never initiating quest dialogue with me, even with pet pal as Ifan. It was only after I entered Fort joy and killed emmie that he gave me the quest. Even after i tell him that shes dead the quest remains in my log. I can kill him and nothing changes either. Can anyone explain why this is?

Not glitched, but I was dissapointed that once you remove the collar you can't complete it. Poor dog.

..actually the quest remaining active may be a minor glitch, because the trigger to close it is if Emmie dies or is rescued. Probably just overlooked by the devs.

Thats normal. This game is unfinished and you will find similar issue many more times.

Thats lame. I guess ill just kill the dog at the beach then. I tried talking to him multiple times before heading into the fort, removing my collar, or killing magisters. IIRC he said I smelled like wolf. (Ifan)

just read a comment that mentioned the dog doesnt give you the quest if you have the cat following you. welp. hes dead now. gonna kill him

Yep, you have to manipulate the cat so he's some distance away before talking to Buddy or he'll be distracted.

So the smell like wolf comment i got from buddy when talking to him with a different character was probably just a different flavor than what you get when the cat character is with you.

Im guessing i have to unchain him and that will suffice for next time?
