Are you able to use mods for co op games? If so do both players require the mod or only the host?

You can use mods for co op games, and both players require the mods. When a host with mods starts a game, any player in the lobby will automatically start downloading whatever mod the host has. However, in my experience, this can make the game crash, so I believe it's better to download the mods directly before doing so.
