I can't find the archives on bloodmoon island

I did all the vault quests, killed Advocate, etc. But i've never seen the hatch to the archives. (I just started looking for this after i did all the quests and got stuck with Lohse). If i read this right --> I need the demon's name for which i need the tree's name, for which i need to go into the archives.
But there is no visible hatch in the northeast corner. If it is hidden, do i need >21 wits to discover?

Thanks loads! Didn't know that Peace of mind increaced Wits by so much.....wander how many potions I have wasted....

If you know where you are supposed to dig you can also use the Shovel in that spot. Helps a lot with subsequent playthroughs where you don't want to backtrack :)
