Is This Game Worth Buying
This may come across as a stupid question, however I rarely buy expensive games because I tend to not have the cash for them. This game seems right up my alley, but then again I'm totally new to the series, the mechanics, whatever, so I really don't know what to expect. And while I've seen quite a lot of good reviews, I've seen a few that at least make me question whether I want to spend the money on it.

So, I'd like to gauge some opinions on either side as to why or why not this game is worth it.

The game is challenging, it has a steep learning curve and you need to be very willing to talk to everyone (including animals) and explore (very rewarding) in order to progress. Avoid fighting anyone more than 1 or - at the outmost - 2 levels higher than you (rarely), as levels mean a lot in this game. If you think you've made a mistake in a character build, don't worry, you'll have access to free respecs at the start of Act 2.

I wasn't much of a fan of the first game, but this one is better in just about every way - better story, better characters, better roleplaying, and - in my opinion - better combat.

If you like RPG's... it is a sin not to have this. This game is everey RPG players wet dream. With some cool strategy that never gets boring. Tons of characters, almost fully voice acted, beautiful visuals, fun, laughter, and more!

You get up to 7 cool Origin Stories that play the Maiun Story all differently, and you can also just create a characters. Spells, Magic, Sorcery, WITCH!

Please, if you are not sure, you could also buy the one Prior to this, in its Definitive Form. Cheaper, and still excellent and follows the same formula. Could possibly help you choose, if this one is up your alley or not.

PS - Lohse, and THE RED LIZARD, are the best. IMO. Best interactions.

What other RPG has THIS in it??

ALSO!!!!

The Definitive Edition comes out in a few months with thousands of tweaks.

I have, in the past, referred to this as the "Witcher 3 of isometric games", like W3 it set a new bar for its genre.

In the same boat. Old dude looking for a great adventure. Do I need to play the original to understand/follow the story line in II?

If they ever add barrelmancy, it will become a classic.

No. The second one barely has anything to do with the first one, and the common themes are explained in the second one.

I pretty much stick with games under 20 USD, waiting for sales, that sort of thing lol

Honestly, thank you all for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I think I'm just going to buy it, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I guess my last question would be, is it as fun with a controller? Currently I don't have a place to use a mouse and keyboard effectively, but I've seen other discussions about how good it still is with a controller, so I'm doubting it'll be a problem

Well it has Controller Setups, and I have never heard anyone say its bad. With the new edition coming out they fully revamped it for better use on the couch.

Did you like some of the older games like Baldur's Gate and icewind Dale?. Do you like RPGs that has a lot richer and better story than Final Fantasy 15?. Do you mind whether or not it's turn-based? if you do not mind if is turn-based and if you answered yes to all the questions above then yes this game is 100% worth it

Maybe I tried it at the wrong time, but I couldn’t get into the first Divinity: Original Sin. That being said, Orignal Sin 2 and The Witcher 3 are the best RPGs I’ve ever played.

As with your concern about controller use; I recently moved and do not have everything set up for me to use mouse+keyboard, so I’m hooked up to my tv using a controller, and it works perfectly fine.

Isometric - turn-based RPG with amazing story telling and exploration. You really can’t go wrong.
