Lucky Charm - How does it work?
Hi, how does Lucky Charm work?

Is its effects limited to just one party member? I.E, if I already have one with 6 Lucky Charm, is there a reason for me to give another character Lucky Charm as well? Does having multiple characters with lucky charm increase the likelihood of better gear, or is it determined by whichever has the highest skill?

Also, are Legendaries/Rares unlocked by certain thresholds: I.E you need 4 Luck Charm in order to find legendaries, or does Luck Charm simply just increase your likelihood of finding loot(regardless of rarity) overral?

Higher rarity items are found based on two things. You need high lucky charm and you need to be in a higher level area.

When the game first came out the person with the skill had to be the one openning containers. They changed it in a patch so that now it affects anyone in your party who does the openning.

Aw damnit...that's why I keep finding all this lever 15 crap when I'm only level 10.

I wish they'd have warned us that using a level 15 bow at level 10 makes your accuracy turn to crap. What ever happened to just using up action points with higher-level gear???
I have a lucky charm of 2 so far, and we are about level 7 (going slowly, exploring a lot) and we have gotten the "sparkly sound" sometimes when finding one item (maybe the chest/box would have been empty) and also when killing a super baddie and finding a pile o stuff.

Not sure how much it actually adds.
I could be wrong, as I can't find any concrete data, but from my experience and limited research:
-Yes, it is pointless to get it on multiple people now that the party shares the ability
-You will get a lucky charm loot drop about 5% of the time, so around 1 out of 20 crates/barrels/bodies
-Higher LC will not increase the odds of something dropping, but will increase how good the drop is
-Higher LC levels can drop up to divine teir gear. This requires 5 in LC plus 3-4 points from gear.
-I'm not sure what specific level of LC unlocks rare/legendary/epic gear, or if anyone is 100% sure

With gear you can have rank 5 lucky charm by level 7.
I usually don't go higher than rank 7 and that provides plenty of great gear finds.

On a related note, you can save scum your lucky finds to an extent. For example, if you see a room with 10 different containers to open save before you start checking.

If you get a lucky find but don't find the base type useful you can change it. Reload the save and open the containers in a different order so that the container that triggers the lucky find will be a different one in the room. This will give a different base type for the item.

Repeating the same sequence to get the lucky find on the same container each time will get you the same base item type but with a different set of random stats on the item.
Everyone forgets that wits applies to your loot aswell. So...

1.how does witts and lucky charm on seprate character work? So loot with your highest witts character and lucky charm will be shared with them? Or it's all factored in the party for highest wits + highest lucky charm = equals loot?

2. Additionally the highest is factored for the lucky effect it ses but multiple characters with lucky charm will have no effect? Or does it give another chance for the highest lucky charm to activate?

3. Noted through my play through and some tests (needs more time than I'm willing to invest) that if you pick up a container on your non lucky charm character a banner will reveal that the ability was shared with you. This will allow you to identify the exact container that lucky charm effect is on and can lable as wares for save scams. You can still save scam for rolls but now you have untouched crates? How can this be exploited some more.
I found this by deciding to wait to loot everything in the prologue chapter until I was about to exit. Having 2 lucky charm at level 2 on the Merryweather still Once I found a crate with lucky charm proc it gave me a pants plus 1 lucky charm. Instant save game there. But the crate would always proc as lucky charm when I picked it up.

Any other notes on this you guys have found?

1. Wits has nothing to do with it. Only the Lucky Charm stat matters.

2. The one with the highest Lucky Charm stat is the only one that counts.

3. Read the post I made right above your's to learn how to save scum lucky charm either for different stats on one item type, or to switch the item type.
