No way with one joystick and keyboard and mouse, or both player with keyboard and mouse.
Oh thanks for telling us that. Well the devs can obviously implement remote play together to work without that requirement but not sure if they will do that cuz they must be busy making Baldurs Gate 3. Hope it does get implemented at some point though cuz it will only give them more sales.
and i think that this is really annoying. i hope they may change it, but i dont have high hopes for it.
(I still would've bought the game later anyways)
I tested this with the original release of the game, but don't recall if I tried it again since the Definitive Edition. I didn't do a full gamepad configuration, just the left stick, Dpad, A/B/X/Y and start buttons, enough to see if it would work, and get local split screen going with a keyboard and Xbox 360 controller.
I've since seen mention of the program vJoy[vjoystick.sourceforge.net], but have not tried it.
After setting up the keys, at least with Headsoft's program you would need to use x360ce[www.x360ce.com] to get the game to recognize the virtual joystick. The default settings should be fine, though opening the x360ce program can make it easier to test the key layout and assignments.
Keyboard + controller was tried when adding the split screen feature, but there were technical issues with the UI that resulted in that not being feasible.
