Character Creation Choosing Voice issue (Definitive Edition)
Hello there everybody.

I just recently wanted to pick up DOS2 and play through a new campaign with the definitive Edition. The problem I have is that when I go to classic mode and want to listen to the voices, it works just fine, but when I go to the definitve Edition and want to listen to the different voices, it just doesnt let me listen to them.

Also the "listen to the story" thing of Ifan Ben medz etc. doesnt have any voices. I dont know if the latter is intended to not be "voiced" but I sure know that the first thing shouldn´t happen.

anyone knows how to fix this?+

Ps.: I know I could just start the classic one, listen to the voices and then choose the voice I liked in the definitive Edition. But this shouldn´t be necessary in my opiniopn.
My problem is that I fear this would go to the main game as well and I would end up having 0 voices in game.

Did you do the usual stuff like checking files, reinstallining, etc?

I deleted the game and reinstalled it new and got this problem. I don´t use any mods btw.

Thats weird, so all the audio files do not work? Or just the voiceovers? Maybe a sound option...

Verify the game cache. It’ll double check the integrity of the download.

I checked the Sound options, I verified the Game Cache and still it doesn´t work. I can´t hear any Voiceover in the game. I hear environmental voices perfectly, but when I talk to the guards etc. then there is no voice whatsoever.

Funny enough, when I play classic Edition, everything works perfectly.

This might sound stupidly obvious, but have you checked your audio options to make sure you haven't turned off the sound on voiceovers on accident?

Settings are Voice Master 70, Voice Dialogue, Narrator and Overhead 100. I even unchecked the "turn off voice when window is not in focus" option. To minimise any risks from my side. :P

Now I deinstalled and Reinstalled the game with the same problems.

Edit: Although the Voice can be heard now at character creation (in classic mode) I dont get any VoiceOvers in classic mode now as well.

I changed the Firewall to allow whatever DOS2 needs, I reinstalled the game, deleted my profiles from before, veryfied the Data and it still doesn´t work.

By not work I mean the magisters at the beginning fo the ship and all the different heroes don´t have a voiceover when you first meet them and try to talk to them. The Narrator can´t be heard as well. DOS2 isn´t the same without Voices :(

HELP PLEASE someone! :(

Have you sent an E-Mail to Larian Support? I doubt this is within the bounds of what we in the forums can help with, sadly.

Omg thanks Draconiya for pointing it out! I got rid of the problem!

I didn´t write the support, but the Technical Support Forum was really helpful at that.

here is the solution directly from the Technical Suport forum of Lariant.

Known Issues

Voices can be heard in combat or in the world, but not in dialogues

Check the configuration of your speakers in Windows. This problem can be caused by having stereo speakers set to 5.1 sound, for example.

- Right click the Volume Control speaker icon in the taskbar and select 'Playback devices'
- In the Playback tab, right click the 'Default Device' (with a green checkmark) and select 'Configure Speakers'
- Make sure the 'Audio channels' configuration matches your speaker/headphone setup; press the 'Test' button to hear sound effects played on each speaker, while the corresponding speaker in the 'Speaker Setup' window is highlighted. You can also click directly on the speakers in the picture to hear the test sound effect on that speaker only.
